Hauppauge remote with MCE Bean Bag?

So I bought an OEM MCE remote and bean bag and lost the remote with no way of getting it back... is it possible to use the Hauppauge remote that came with my tuner card with this setup? I am already using HIP for control...

This is the exact combo I use. Just teach HIP from the Hauppauge remote.
