I have had some weird zero recording length problems of late. It appears to only happen on scheduled recording for the 2nd tuner (1st in use for prior recording).

When I ran a manual record test all works fine. Even tried a scheduled test and all was fine again.

I have attached logs.

Problem recordings were :
2009-01-08 20:29:25.156 - Eli Stone (Failed)
2009-01-07 20:29:03.703 - House (Failed)

Tests that worked were:
2009-01-08 21:13:52.359 t2 (Worked OK)
2009-01-08 21:45:00.656 t2a (Worked OK)

Not too sure what is going on here. Both tuners are USB and it all seems to work when I run a deliberate test!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

well they cancelled Eli Stone...:mad: [replaced it with "HomeLand Security" ARGH!]
[cough, cough, blowme]
thankfully House is still going strong..

probably need logs to see what happened...

silly me, there they are...lol

i see:
2009-01-07 21:30:00.062 INFO [5] Found new programme requiring recording: The Unit (64)
2009-01-07 21:30:00.062 INFO [5] Stopping existing recording on this capture source. (removing from currentlyRecording)
2009-01-07 21:30:00.062 VERBOSE [5] Stopping recording oid:3

things seemed to be going as normal then it saw this new show to record and it had priority so it stopped other recording..
[higher shows in pending list get priority]
maybe that was it? checked the 'conflicts' button in recordings?

Thanks pBs,

There have been no conflicts listed.
The 21:30 entry for the Unit is correct and it stopped the House recording that started at 20:30. From what I can see in the logs it appears that there may not have been a signal lock on the 2nd tuner for the 20:30 recording which is strange as that channel normally records OK from both tuners. I am not as yet familiar enough with the logs to interpret them well enough to be sure.

Too me it looked like the device failed to lock onto a signal. I couldnt see any other sign of problems in the logs.

Thanks sub, will run some more tests.

One further question about this log entry:

locked=0 present=0 strength=18 quality=66

One of my tuners never has a locked or present value but still records perfectly. This is actually the oldest and most reliable tuner and runs off an un-amplified signal. The 2nd tuner (the one giving me problems) wont find any channels unless I run it from an amplified signal, but it usually shows

locked=1 present=1 strength=67 quality=73

Is this common?

I am presuming that these figures are referring to streams (and strength/quality). are the locked/present figures dependent on the tuner type/bda drivers?

A few devices dont accurately report their lock status by the end of starting a recording. I'm not sure if you device do or not.
