Hi

I was never meaning put out an ML2 8 - instead trying to get ML3 the PVRx2 version fully working.

But there was a few problems with version 7.2 that required some fixes, so I've updated the ML2 to use the common backend code that is now shared between ML2 and 3.

I've also packaged ML2 up as a version 8 by itself rather than bundle it in the ML3 Beta package. And I have also split ML3 to it's own page.

MusicLibrary2 Version 8: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/MusicLibrary2

Music Library3 Version 8 BETA - http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/MusicLibrary3

If you don't need all the playlist features then ML3 is probably sufficient for your needs.

Grr, now I see this. I just reinstalled 4 times testing Windows 7 Beta. I have 2 questions:

1. To install either 2 or 3, do I just unzip to the GBPVR folder and let it overwrite what is there? Also, will that keep the old paths and ML database?

2. You say ML3 is fine if we don't need playlist support. What is the benefit of ML3 over ML2 (I don't need playlists)

The interface for ML3 is written for pvrx2. ML2 is a legacy plugin that works for pvrx2 and is fine, but there are some new GUI elements that can be used for ML3.

I think ML3 looks better personally. But it's quite a big beast to convert ml2 to ml3 so that is why it's taking so long.

So, since I use PVRX2 only, and don't need the playlist stuff, ML3 would be better. But, can I just unzip to the GBPVR folder to upgrade?

yes. but that would create a plugins\MusicLIbrary2 and Plugins\Musiclibrary3 directory

So if you only want one of them, then remove the unwanted one.

Well, that made a mess. The Music Library 3 zip contains a Music Library 3 folder, with the skin, keymappping etc folder in it. I ended up with the Music Library 3 folder in the GBPVR folder. I then copied them in manualy and they seemed to go to the right places, but it nuked Music library in both the PVRX2 menu and nothing shows up in config. Now what?

In gbpvr\plugins\musiclibrary3 you should have MusicLibrary3.dll and a musiclibrary3.xml.serialisers (something like that).

In gbpvr\plugins\common you should have MusicLIbraryCommon.dll and interfaces.dll

In gbpvr\plugins\MusicLibrary2 you should have musiclibrary2.dll and a serialisers dll as well.

This is the layout if you want both. If there are any extra files, or duplicates of the MusicLibraryCommon or interfaces dll then it wont work.

IF you only want MusicLibrary3 then remove the Musiclibrary2 folder. Also check in you copying stuff around you haven't got MusicLibraryCommon and interfaces in the gbpvr directory.

Well, I just uninstalled the whole GBPVR and rebuilt it. After this weekend, I can do it that fast. Remember, I spent the weekend installing Windows 7 Beta, and did it 4 times, and ended up with Vista again. No biggie there.
I am now scanning for files in Music Library 2 7.2. I tried to delete ML2 folder and it hit me with the damn file permissions thing (RANT- It's my damn computer, Redmond should keep their hands off or I go to Lynix!!!) But, check out the ML3 zip, unzip it and it loads everything into a Music Library 3 FOLDER in the GBPVR folder, it never merges with keymappng folder, or the other stuff. YOu should correct the zip file.
I have an hour and 20 minutes to get this done (Want to watch TV after that) I'll give it a shot as soon as scan is done. How does Config/plugins detect the plugins to use? Knowing that would help on my end.

OK, set it up just like you said, never even got near the mauin GBPVR diretory, and t disapeared from the config/plugins. Also, I don't have permission to delete the ML 2 folder. Went through one at a time and it's the Music Library Commons file I don't have permission to delete. I don't want it, why can't I delete it?

You probably can't delete it because it was picked up by the recording service. Stop that and you should be able to delete the file, then start the recording service again.

You should have NO ml2/3 files in the main gbpvr directory. The only file that gets loaded there is the database, and that is created, not included with the zip package.

the keymapping file should go to gbpvr\keymappings
