I'm on my client (xp pro sp2) trying to play a recording on the server and the screen goes dark for a sec like it is going to play it and then it pops me back to the recordings screen and doesn't play it. It is doing this on a set of recordings that I imported into the server via vidimport (it works fine on the server).

Logs for pvrx2 attached. Let me know if I need the svr logs. I was trying to play knight rider at 1/22 12:09-12:12

are the recordings on a different drive than what you record on ? (ie are there 2 hard drives on the server)
are you using streaming?

yes it was on 2 different drives on the server. The "old" vidimported one are on an external usb hard drive on the server. I am using file sharing mode.

-native log will be posted tonight

My setup:
a) GBPVR 1.3.11 server on WHS - (with latest GBPVR patches)
b) 2 PVRX2 clients, one Win XP and one MCE, both file mode
c) 1 PCH client
d) All recordings are to TS

Issue:
I recently had to move my Tv recordings folder, stupidly lost the recordings database so then used the VidImport.exe utility to recreate the recordings.

The recordings db looks fine after the import, but imported recordings will not play from either of the PVRX2 clients - symptoms exactly as gazoo mentions.

I can play the imported recordings from my PCH without problems. I can also play the recording file from the PVRX2 client if I point the video library at the recordings folder. New recordings made since the import play fine from either PVRX2 client.

I have attached the PVRX2 logs from one of the clients - showing the following events a) trying to play an imported recording from the recordings window (Al Murrays Multiple Personality Disorder); b) playing a new recording (Arena) and c) playing the file of 'Al Murrays Multiple Personality Disorder' from the video library screen.

I'me not really sure how to interpret the logs, but it looks like the graph wasn't formed properly in the failed playback.

I have also attached the xml import file produced by VidImport.

Grateful for any insights or workarounds.

Many thanks - Chris

Ignoring the clients, does the recordings play on the server?

I'm afraid I can't test this directly as the server is headless so I don't have a suitable render engine installed. Is there another way to examine the feature you're look for?

Many thanks

Copy the file from the server to a client, and try playing it locally on the client machine.

I copied the file to the XP client - it played fine from the Video Library menu. No difference from when I played it from the server in the previous test. Logs attached.

Are you sure the paths are correct?

Quote:2009-04-04 12:05:19.546 INFO DirectShowPlayerBase::playVideoFileTS(d:\shares\TVRecordings\Al Murrays Multiple Personality Disorder\Al Murrays Multiple Personality Disorder_20090227_21302200.ts)
Can you see "d:\shares\TVRecordings\Al Murrays Multiple Personality Disorder\Al Murrays Multiple Personality Disorder_20090227_21302200.ts"? ie, if you pres Windows-R to bring up the "Run" popup, then enter this filename (with quotes around it) and press enter, does WMP play the file or complain it doesnt exist?
