Hi - I need help with setting up GB PVR (latest version) I am able to enter Config > Capture Sources and set (edit) my recording source. Then I Empty EPG then click Update EPG then click Map digital channels to EPG channels. It then starts scanning channels - finds 2 and on channel 38 of 68 (the third channel with signal strength and quality) it -gb pvr config- freezes or sometimes gives msg that "program has encountered an error do you wish to send report to MS" or something like that. From Windows Task Manager it shows that GB-PVR Configuration is Not Responding. Also if I stop the scan after the first 2 digital channels are found and before it freezes on channel 38, I am able to map the 2 that I have and they play in the preview window - then the program (config) freezes when I clicked OK. Another update - after stopping the scan and mapping the 2 channels and freezing on OK - I now have 2 channels in my TV Guide and these 2 channels on Live TV in GB-PVR.

Here is my equipment
Computer - dual core cpu (6400?) with XP pro This cpu/motherboard/video card was running a previous version of GB-PVR - about 6 months ago - not sure of what version. What has changed is different harddrives & fresh install of XP + all updates
HDHomeRun capture device - I think that it is working OK

Here are my log files (from just before the stopping of the scan after 2 channels found)

Do you have any of the checkboxes ticked in the "Config -> Capture Source setting -> Digital Capture Plugin settings -> advanced BDA settings"?

I think this is what you asked. Opened config.exe > then click Capture Sources tab > then highlight HDHomerun0 (also have HDHomerun1) tuner and > then click Edit box. This brings up Edit Recording Source window. Click on Digital Recording Plugin Settings box. Brings up Digital Source Configuration window. Clicked on BDA Advanced Settings box. Brings up BDA Advanced Settings window.
Assuming this is the right spot - there are 4 check boxes - none where checked.
I checked them 1 at time with the same results. Crashes at 37 or 38 of 68 channels. Channel 37 is a channel with a low power/quality signal (something like 25/0) Channel 38 is a OTA channel that I need - 100/72
Does this help?

Kind of a new question - I found what I think was the installation file for the version that was working. GBPVR10209.msi
Can I reinstall that version - scan my channels - save whatever files that I need and then reinstall version 1.3.11? OR do you think that my problem has something to do with my XP setup? (will be somewhat different do to additional updates)
My goal for this computer is to be basically a file server and be able to record HD tv to be viewed with my PopCornHour thingamajig.
Thank You for helping and what appears to be a great program.

Yep, thats what I meant. Its not that then.

I'm not really sure what to suggest. You could try editing the all.ini file to set "37=" to something like "37=T:99,0,0" forcing it to not scan the problem channel.

If you upgarde (ie install new version over old), it'll keep all your configuration and channels etc.

I did uninstall current version > delete all directories > installed 10209
Interesting - the digital channel mapping works (does NOT crash)- except it does not find any channels - HDHomerun is working as I can watch TV outside of GB-PVR with VLC.

I also found this post - is it still valid especially post #90?

I haven't had time to try it yet - will later tonight - I'll keep you posted
Thanks

No, patches meant for old versions will not work with the current release.

All,

Just to want to mention I have the same issue. I have had it after version 1.2.9

If I install 1.2.9, it does not crash, any version after that, it crashes. I can't for the life of figure out what is causing it. It must be something in windows it does not like after version 1.2.9
I have XP 32bit sp3
I hope someone finds a solution to this. I would try reinstalling windows if I knew for sure it would help. Thoughts?

If someone can capture me 200MB or so of the full transport stream from the problem frequency, I'll run it up here in the debugger and check what GB-PVR doesnt like about it.

I'm new but I ran into this same issue on my HVR-1250. I found that I needed to uninstall GBPVR and remove the keys out of the registry both current user and local machine. I then reinstalled GBPVR, that fixed the crashing but i still wasnt getting all the channels scanned, I needed to use the qam.ini manager and updated my HVR-1250 drivers to the latest version. Good luck.

I am having a similar problem as the OP. My system consist of a HVR-1600 and WinXP (actually MCE-2005). I have a Verizon FIOS cable connected directly to the ATSC/QAM connector and am trying to capture the ClearQAM signal. After adding the source and setting up EPG, I try to do the mapping. During scan, it finds a lot of channels, but then gets to the 65th of 138 and hangs. I have to use Task Manager to exit out of Config.exe. I tried editing my all.ini file as described by sub by adding the line:

65=T:99,0,0

but it seemed to have no affect. If I stop the scan before it gets to 65, I do successfully save the configuration, but when I run PVRX2 and select "Live TV" nothing happens.

I'm sure I am not setting up the capture card correctly, but the install guide for that section appears to be for an older version and doesn't really match the current version I just downloaded.

BTW, I do still have WinTV installed and it does successfuly work with ClearQAM and I can view the available TV channels.

Any help or guidance can give me would really be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Craig
