To help automate some maintenance tasks, is there any way that I can communicate events to the recording service from a program or batch file? For example, I would like to tell it to stop a recording, without having to press "CANCEL" in the PVRx2 interface.

Also, I am aware of postprocessing.bat and parallelprocessing.bat. Is there any way to execute some commands BEFORE a recording commences?

With respect, there must be. Slimm-GBPVR does it. I can understand if you don't want to reveal the method, though.

You can look at the EWA source code included with GB-PVR to see the SchedulerHelper API in use.

I suppose the distinction needs to be made between communicating with the recording service via tcp/ip, which as sub mentioned is not possible, and communicating with the recording service via the built in API as the Enhanced Web Admin (EWA) does. The latter is possible, and examples are found in the EWA source code.

I assumed and I think sub did too, that you wanted to communicate via tcp/ip.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I was responding to the question about whether there was a batch file for running commands prior to a recording commencing.

The ScheduleHelper API can be used to cancel recordings.

Although it may be possible to cheat and say an channel channel changer of your own is required and use that to do what you want. Smile

I'm not sure what you mean, Martin. Are you talking about a UIRT device, or something software-related?

I had in mind that small apps could be written using the APIs, then used from within batch files (or similar). I didn't mean to suggest it would be easy. An EXE to cancel a recording would allow quite a bit more automation, and there is also scope to use an EXE to update a schedule. I will look at the code someday and steepen my learning curve...
