Sub,
I know you don't like to add anything region specific but is there any chance of you ever providing a built in facility maybe a checkbox thing in config to add Schedule Direct extra fields like;
Year Released
Star Rating
First Aired Date
Repeat Flag
MPAA Rating
HDTV
Stereo

I currently use EpgExtra to get this data into the guide, but that takes a run time of more than an hour, and your guide update is waaay faster (just a few minutes). I think there are a lot of us in the states that would appreciate native import of this data. I am sure this has been discussed before but I thought I would beg again. Thanks again for a life changing product.

I agree, that would be great! Maybe just display that info if it exists, if not then don't.

GuidePlus does most of this in seconds - http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/GuidePlus

and Uxmltv is getting faster all the time and has many more options

I'm not keen on adding new database & screen fields etc for this data that isnt available in other EPG services, but if you want this extra info encoded into some of the extra fields, then I could probably do this. If thats what you want, give me some indication of how you'd want it encoded. (by encoding I meaning adding stuff to the description or title etc)

It looks like the EPG Extra utility I use stuffs the data into the show description field.

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/EPGExtra

This is what I currently use and the only big downside is it can take 72-85 minutes for it to go back through the .xml and add the data to the description field.

For instance:

(1998 *** PG-13) A lawyer (Fred Smith) divorces his aristocratic wife (Honoria Glossop) who then wins a fortune at the roulette wheel in Monte Carlo. (Stereo)

(2003 |R|) Stan divorces Irma who finds she has won the lottery. (HD, Stereo)

So what I was hoping for was that if Schedules Direct was configured for epg that there could be an option in gbpvr config to stuff (or parse into) the year, number of stars and maybe film rating into the existing show title or description fields in the database.

Thank you for the suggestion for GuidePlus, but I was looking for something simple like epgExtra or a native import of the data without having to mess with xmltv.

Sub if this is too regional and you do not wish to pursue it for GBPVR then I totally understand and I will continue to use epgExtra. I just thought it might benefit users who use SD and might be a faster more elegant solution to add the data when GBPVR updates the guide.

I'm happy to add a setting to add this extra data, but you'll need to tell me exactly what you want it to do. ie, what do you want added to the title, and what do you want added to the description.

I can follow the examples shown above for the description, but is that in the layout you'd prefer? Do you want any additional info in the title?

Its only a 10 minute job for me to add this, and it wont slow the EPG update down.

The example above is just the way I like it, added to the show description field.
So just prior to the show description I would like:
(Year Released, Star Rating, MPAA Rating) then description etc etc.

EpgExtra adds on the end of the description (HDTV, stereo) etc but I don't think that's as useful so up to your judgement on that one.

If it really is not too big a deal to add it, I know I would greatly appreciate it. I don't want you to add it unless you think it would appeal to allot of folks and benefit GBPVR.

I don't want to modify the title, but if you could add it to the show description that would be great. Original air date for TV (so you can tell if it's new or a repeat) and rating are the two I would like appended to the show description.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Sub!!!!

Would it be hard to make it a check box to pre or append the info?

Would it be hard to give each field a check box as to whether we want that info displayed or not?

Would it be hard to add the "*" to a new show title <- that is extremely handy in my opinion.

i.e. in the setup for Schedules Direct it would look something like:

[ ] Display extra info
[ ] Prepend extras to show description (default would append)
[ ] Display Year Released
[ ] Display Star Rating
[ ] First Aired Date
[ ] Display Repeat Flag (this would be the "*" on new show titles?)
[ ] Display MPAA Rating
[ ] Display if HDTV
[ ] Display if Stereo

If not then that's just fine - too much info is better than not enough so we'll appreciate whatever you do for us!

The show info enhancer utilities work great too and I really appreciate their efforts, but it would be soooo nice to have the basics just built in (I don't really need the ability to import info from IMDB, etc.).

Thanks again Sub, I really appreciate your being willing to do this for us!

Adding the "*" to the show title for a new show is a bit nicer than adding it to the show description because with it in the title you can set it up to just record new shows of a particular title rather shows at a particular time that may or may not be new. (if that makes sense! Basically "Program A" can be either new or old and would be recorded if it met the show time/channel parameters set up in the recording options. "Program A*" would always be a new program, if a re-run airs and the repeat flag is set the program name does not have an * appended so it doesn't match the name the recording timer is setup for so it doesn't record re-runs).
