Connectinon questions

Can someone help me with the best way to connect my STB, HDTV and GBPVR PC?

I guess I have 2 options:

Option 1 - have HDTV from STB go directly to television, and have DVR on input #2. I dont think I have the horsepower to record HDTV so I am leaning toward this.



Option 2 - Have GBPVR do everything


Any suggestions?

I would go with the first option, otherwise you are losing the ability to watch any HD.

You will be downscaling your HDTV signal from the STB to 476i via svideo, then upscaling it back up and outputting via component.
You may as well watch the HDTV stuff live on the TV, as it won't need scaling (as long as the box outputs at the TV's native resolution)

Or you could grab a component video switch so you have both the STB & PC plugged into that, and the switch connected to the TV and just flick between the 2 sources depending on what you want to watch. (another small box, and another remote to contend with - but gives you the best of both worlds with the limited connections your TV has)

Also if you add a QAM/ATSC antenna later to your HVR1600, your HD captures can still be output in their native resolution.
