1.3.11 - Nova-T500 - MVP - mvpmc dongle...

I've been having problems with the recording service stopping without any error messages (that I can see) in the logs - for instance tonight...

19:51 switched on MVP - tuned to STV3 (Pie in the sky)
20:00 STV3 Adventures of Sherlock Holmes begins
20:25 BBC Four scheduled recording starts 5 min pre-pad (Alison Krauss)
21:00 STV3 Numb3rs begins
21:08 BBC Four scheduled recording finishes 8 min post-pad
21:28 tuner 2 changes to Sky 3 (I didn't touch anything - honest gov)

around about then recordingservice seems to have stopped...

I don't have a clue where to start looking... unfortunately, I had 2 MVP servers started on this machine (and there was another MVP sitting on screen saver), so the MVP-PVRX2.exe.log looks like it's worth zilch - I've changed it to 1 now.

I did have ADplus running attached to gbpvrrecordingservice.exe - would the logs from that be of any use?

Does Windows Event Viewer have a message listed for the time it stopped?

Nope - however, the problem does occur in a couple of flavours, one of which results in a Serious Windows Error and a re-boot - so I'll just sit here and wait for the next bus and hope it has a bit more to say for itself...

I've had this happen maybe 5 or 6 times in the past 6 weeks from looking at my System log. There's nothing in the rec. service logs - they just come to a dead halt (no exceptions logged) and it's as if the service has just been unloaded from memory by brute force.

After restarting the service the GBTray icon is rendered useless (right-clicking or double clicking does nothing) and I have to reboot to get things back to normal.

I may be wrong but I'm fairly sure the crashes have all been just after a DVB-T recording had started. I changed mux options several times recently (dvr-ms, TS Mux, ATI mux) so I haven't been able to find a pattern which is why I haven't reported it.

Cheers,
Brian

It'd be worth trying this patch to see if it helps: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=37

It cleans up a few PSI Parsing things that could possibly account for this.

I remember that thread and I have actually pulled that patch.

One positive note is that the last time I had the rec. service crash was earlier on the same day you posted it. I haven't seen it since so maybe it's done the trick....I'll keep you posted. Big Grin

That's interesting Brian - very close to what I'm seeing, except I've always been on the Cyberlink mux - anyway, I've stuck it in and we'll see what happens...
