Here's the problems:

Live TV (QAM): This mostly works but I get just a little bit of lag on occasion. This is esp. noticeable with side to side motion (tickers are quite jerky). Also, audio gets out of sync with video but changing channels or closing/opening GB-PVR seems to help with this. CPU usage is low, ~15% is typical while watching live TV.

Recordings: Playback is where the major problems are. Recordings are not watchable due to the lag/jerky playback and audio sync problems. I recorded a long program last weekend and by the time I got to end of it, the audio was ~9 seconds ahead of the video.

I really, really want to get GB-PVR working. I love this app and with the above mentioned issues fixed, it would be perfect!

I've searched the forums and although many others have had these issues, I haven't found a solution. Logs are attached and hardware is in my sig.

Thanks!

Its most likely caused by the audio/video decoders you're using. Try different ones.

I've been doing that but I guess I just haven't come across the right ones. Here's what I have on my system:

Video Decoder:

ATI MPEG Video Decoder
InterVideo Video Decoder
CyberLink Video/SP Decoder
MPEG Video Decoder

Audio Decoder:

MPEG Audio Decoder
CyberLink Audio Decoder
InterVideo Audio Decoder

AC3 Decoder:

System Default is the only option

Audio Renderer:

Realtek AC97 Audio
CyberLink Audio Renderer (PCM45)
Default DirectSound Device
Default WaveOut Device
DirectSound: Realtek AC97 Audio

BDA Multiplexer:

Microsoft DVR-MS
CyberLink
ATI MPEG Mux
TS Mux
Full TS

What would you recommend from that list? Or, should I just get some other decoder(s) that would work better than these?

There is no one size fits all answer, so depending on other stuff about your setup, my recommendations may not be the best there. I'd have though the ATI or Cyberlink decoder, Cyberlink or MPA decoder for audio (google for it), and 'system default' audio renderer, with either TS Mux or DVR-MS mux.

If you're in a multi-monitor setup, try sticking to the primary monitor initially.

Try the recordings in VLC. Its decoders are self-contained. If it does the same thing there, it may be the recording itself.

For awhile, I had a bad audio problem that would glitch the video, including when playing it in VLC. If I switched the audio channels in VLC from 5.1 to 2.0, it played fine. So it could be even something weird like that. Hmm, I guess my memory's going since I can't remember how I fixed the problem in GBPVR.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:
