First I’d like to start off by saying that I think that GBPVR is great PVR program. It’s taken me a while to get everything to work and it’s been a learning experience. Thank You SUB and all others that have contributed to this application.

That being said, I have a problem that I’ve scoured this forum for and haven’t found the answer to yet. I’m sure it’s here somewhere unless my issue is unique, which is possible.

Here’s the problem……..I open PVRX2 to either schedule or manual record a program (doesn’t matter which). All goes well, starts on time, wakes the computer if in standby and records the program, great so far.

Now comes the problem, when I open the PVRX2 app. either during or after the recording process is completed, the CPU usage goes up to 98-100%, eventually PVRX2 will open but takes several minutes to do so. CPU usage will stay at 98-100% until I open Task Manager and stop the process PVRX2. If at this point I try to open PVRX2 again the same thing happens 98-100% CPU usage. The only way I can get everything working properly is to run a bat file I’ve set up to stop and restart the GB-PVR Recording Service, which are just net stop/start commands. After I run the bat file all is well and PVRX2 and CPU play nice again. Obviously it’s next to impossible or impossible to open PVRX2 to cancel a recording in progress while the CPU is in this state.

I can’t say with any certainty when this started because it used to work fine. I kept thinking it would be fixed in the next release of software I guess. I think it was about the time GBPVR was phased out and PVRX2 became the application.

I have purged all the logs before starting the above process and have attached them to this plea for help………..Thank You in advance.

The logs dont seem to show any problems. Which process shows the high CPU usage in the task list?

I dont remember seeing any other reports of this. It might be worth temporarily disabling your antivirus and/or firewall software to see if it makes any difference.

Jeez, sure as heck can't complain about the the response from you Sub. Didn't even have time to get a beer. ;-)
Anyway I tried the setup while disabling firewall and antivirus, and it was the same thing.
98-100% CPU usage by the process PVRX2.exe

If you leave it at this 98-100% for a few minutes, does it eventually drop back down?

No, The usage stay there until I stop the process, and even after I stop the process and try to open it WITHOUT stopping and restarting the GBPVR Recording Service, the usage is still 98-100%.

If you disable plugins in the config app, using the check box at the bottom of the Plugins tab, does the problem persist?

None what-so-ever. The only thing that's utilizing any cpu or anything else is PVRX2. Has Microsoft's MCE have any thing to do with this? My system is WINXP PRO MCE SP2. I don't use it at all...not with your app. Yours is so much better.
