I've read similar postings with problems with this, but I did not find a solution to try...

Using v 23 of gbpvr.  I originally had a single pvr-150 (non-mce)configured as capture device #1, everything works great, recording/playing through media mvp.  I decided to add a second pvr-150 (non-mce) to record multiple programs simultaneously.  Plugged in the card, booted up, XP-pro found the new hardware, System Manager says both working properly.  I configured the second as capture device #2, loaded ECP, everything seemed fine.  I kicked off two recordings to test it out.  TV guide shows both recording (red), Recordings shows both recording.  Directory created for both, but only first selected show actually recorded.  Recordingservice log shows following error on second recording:
1/31/2005 6:48:31 PM.500 VERBOSE [62] DirectRecordingSource about to start recording  oid:2 channel:5
1/31/2005 6:48:31 PM.562 ERROR [62] Error starting recording: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
1/31/2005 6:48:31 PM.578 ERROR [62] Error starting recording:    at ConnectPins(IGraphBuilder* pGB, IBaseFilter* pSourceFilter, UInt16* pinNameSource, IBaseFilter* pDestFilter, UInt16* pinNameDest)

  at NativeUtilities.Recorder.Init(Recorder* , UInt16* cardType, Int32 qualitySetting, UInt16* filename, Int32 channel, Int32 board, Int32 countryCode, Int32 tuningType, Boolean useStreamingEngineIfAvailable)
  at NativeUtilities.Recorder.__ctor(Recorder* , UInt16* cardType, Int32 qualitySetting, UInt16* filename, Int32 channel, Int32 board, Int32 countryCode, Int32 tuningType, Boolean useStreamingEngineIfAvailable)
at NativeUtilities.RecorderHelper.StartRecording(String cardType, Int32 qualitySetting, Int32 board, String filename, Int32 channel, Int32 countryCode, Int32 tuningType, Boolean useStreamingEngineIfAvailable)
  at GBPVR.Backend.Common.DirectRecordingSource.a(IRecordingSourceConfiguration A_0, Int32 A_1, String A_2, Int32 A_3, Int32 A_4, Boolean A_5)
  at m.g()

Any hints or clues?  Some setup I missed?

Try running hcw from Hauppauge disk to clear both drivers, then reboot and reinstall the drivers at the same time. Let us know if that doesn't solve the problem.

Thanks.

Just tried it (hcwclear.exe, chose to remove all drivers and applications). Rebooted and reinstalled drivers. Same results, same errors in the log file.

Tomorrow I think I will remove again and just install the newest card by itself, just to make sure it is working.

Thought I would give an update, in case anyone else has the problem...

I determined both cards were working, by trying one at a time.  However, neither card would work unless plugged into a certain pci slot.  No matter how many times I reinstalled the drivers, rebooted, etc., only the card plugged into the second slot from the top would work, even if only one card was in the system.

So, I gave up for the time being, and since I needed to download the new version of gb-pvr, I decided to do that.

Once I had the new gb-pvr installation done, both cards record!

First off, great software and support, thanks.

I'm having the same issue with two pvr150mce's and only one recording, when two recordings are started.
Folders are created for both shows.
Both shows are red in the guide.
The systray shows both sources as recording.
I'm using the latest build v0.90.7c

I will try reloading the drivers again.
Any thing else to try?

You can try what worked for me... re-download gb-pvr and reinstall right on top of the current one. Start and OK out of config.exe (to restart the services).

I've tried reloading drivers, a clear gbpvr install, a gbprv install over gbpvr.

For PVR150cme drivers, I've tried the one's on the cd, as well as the divers for the PVR150 at the Hauppauge site.

No luck, only one card will record.
I can watch live tv on both cards by starting the gbpvr twice.

I will try a mixed PVR250 and a 150mce tonight and see Iif I can get that to work.

dhwhisen, what 150cme drivers are you using?

Thanks

I don't have an mce - I have two non-mce PVR-150's. I just used the drivers that are on the CD that came with the 150. I used the hcwclear.exe on the CD, then rebooted with both 150's plugged into the system, and chose "install automatically" after the system detected the new hardware (with the CD in the drive so it found the drivers from there). I know there are newer drivers out, but I subscribe to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy.

If you try the 250/150, I think I read somewhere you need to set both to Capture Device #1 (I don't remember for sure, so maybe someone can correct me on that if I am mistaken).

Here are the results of some testing I did related to this problem:

I am only having one problem now that I added a second PVR-150 to my system, and it shows itself in three different scenarios that I think are all related:

#1-GBPVR will not record two shows at the same time, here are the steps I take to reproduce:

1. GBPVR is configured for LiveTV Preview Mode.

2. Start GBPVR and schedule a recording.  This first recording always happens on Capture Source #2 as verified by the tray icon. The folder is created,  the file appears in the folder and the size increases as the show is recorded.

3. Enter LiveTV.  LiveTV Preview Mode works as expected and the tray icon always shows it using Capture Source #1.  This is true whether another recording is happening or not. Exit LiveTV.  I only did this step to see what Capture Source was being used for LiveTV mode.  It is not necessary to duplicate the problem.

4. Schedule another recording that occurs while the first recording is happening.  This recording always happens on Capture Source #1.  The folder appears but the file is never created in the folder.  The tray icon shows that both recordings are occurring but only the recording on Capture Source #2 is actually there.

#2-GBPVR will not show video when configured for LiveTV Mode(No Preview):

1. GBPVR is configured for LiveTV Mode(No Preview).

2. Start GBPVR and select LiveTV.  Starting time shift mode will appear on the screen and then an error is given, "Error: Unable to playback file"(This may not be the exact message, I am not home to check it) If I watch the tray Icon when I select LiveTV I see that Capture Source #1 goes from sleeping to recording, then the error occurs and it returns to sleeping.  Capture Source #1 is the only one that gets chosen when I select LiveTV.  This occurs whether Capture Source  #2 is in use or not.

#3-LiveTV will not work on MVP

1. Start LiveTV on MVP.  The OSD will appear but no video, the screen will then go black and I have to turn the MVP off and the on to get it back to the main menu.  If I watch the tray Icon when I select LiveTV on the MVP I see that Capture Source #1 goes from sleeping to recording, then the MVP screen goes black and Capture Source #1 returns to sleeping.  Capture Source #1 is the only one that gets chosen when I select LiveTV from the MVP.  This occurs whether Capture Source  #2 is in use or not.

It seems to me that the common problem for all three scenarios is the inability of Capture Source #1 to record a show.

Sub,

When I get home from work I will send you the log files from each scenario.

My system specs:

XP Pro SP2
P4 2.8g
1g Ram
80g SATA Video Drive
PVR-150 Capture Source #1
PVR-150 Capture Source #2
Media MVP

Can anyone else verify this?

Thanks,
jjakober
