I have a new installation with a Pinnacle 7010i (only using satellite section). I have got it working by selecting the similar BlackGold card since the 7010 is not in the list. I have selected the relevant Astra 2A etc sender.
The first couple of scans caused the app to crash part way through, but the last scan completed without incident. The problem is that it misses a vital channel (10773 H) from the scan list and thus doesn't see (for me) the most important BBC multiplex! This channel is definitely receiving 100% on my dish (since I get it fine in other apps) so I can only imagine that it is missing from the scan database for Astra in GBPVR. It seems to be the only missing multiplex.
Any other Freesat users to throw some more light on this?

Have you applied the patches from the survival guide thread?

The easiest thing to do is probably to take an existing scan cache from someone else and just use that. Quite a few have been posted in recent weeks.

Someone can correct me if I get this wrong, as I'm not near a gb-pvr enabled PC to check, but the process is something like:

1) Find out what scan cache file your card is currently generating. It'll be in \bda\scan-[n].cache where [n] is some number
2) Take someone else's existing cache and copy it over your one, making sure it has the same name.
3) Now rerun the config app and then map the channels to your epg source. No need to rescan.

If you can't find a suitable existing cache, there's a plugin to DVDDream that can generate gb-pvr compatible files. If the channels are found ok in other apps for you, then chances are DVDDream will find them too.

Seems a waste to start a new thread but apologies for jumping on this one... My BBC1 South has stopped working today. Does anyone have a scan.cache entry that definitely still works for this channel? I've tried kingofsat and lyngsat and neither claim it's changed any parameters from those I have (and they also say it's not changed since 2007). In the mean time I've re tuned to BBC1 London.

I can see it with dvbviewer (gbpvr server too busy to play) details from that below - you should be able to check the values to see if they match what is in your cache file.

Thanks for that - I'm not near my pvr to confirm, but I think the vpid and apid have changed so that'd be why I've lost it. Seems like I should get a copy of dvbviewer! Smile

It's a "pay for" program. DVBplayer is a freebie and ISTR there is a gbpvr plugin that grabs tuning info to make scan cache files. But I can't remember if it supports the 7010x tuners (mine has died so it's in the junk drawer now).

Martint123- intrigued by the plugin you mentioned that grabs tuning info - I had a look but couldn't see it. Can you recall what it is? Thanks.

I found it on the wiki. I've not had a chance to play with it as yet, as I had an incompatable tuner at the time that nothing would scan.
