First of all VERY impressed with the software. I was using mythtv (also very good) but need to run windows on this PC.

Everything is fine except the HD channels. I don't know what logfile to look at to troubleshoot. Perhaps just a missing codec or something?

When I tune to an HD channel (eg BBC HD) there is a blank screen and two new windows appear (also black screen) titled "ActiveMovie Window".

I've tried searching the forums but can't find a solution. I'm happy to troubleshoot myself but don't know where to start.

once again. Fantastic piece of software (better than any proprietary sh!t and it's FREE!?) great job!

Its probably down to the decoders you're using.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log and I'll see if anything stands out.

Yeah, its pretty much the decoders. I can see its pulling in all sorts of strange decoders to try and get a picture.

The ffdshow decoder you currently have selected does not work as a H.264 decoder in GB-PVR. Unfortunately the H.264 decoder are not as interchangeable as MPEG2 decoders, so you pretty much need either the Cyberlink or ArcSoft H.264 decoders for these types of channels.

Also, you should set the audio renderer back to 'system default'.

Thankyou. I have a copy of cyberlink power cinema. Is the codec included? if so what steps must I take to use the codec in GB-PVR?

I'm not sure if that has a H.264 decoder or not. Is it listed in the config app?

It is. and it works! (nothing broadcasting at the moment though) but works a treat. Thankyou so much.

Great free software with outstanding support. Windows isn't dead yet. I must donate when I sort out my debt problems. Thankyou so much!

One small thing. I'm no programmer myself, and don't know what it would involve, but mythtv grabbed the EPG from freesat somehow (it's open source so perhaps being a programmer it may be easy to look at the code and implement something similar?) if not. no worries. I'm more than happy with the program as it is.

GREAT JOB! Keep it up.

(close thread?)

I think the best chance of an off-air EPG grab is via someone writing a standalone app to do it and get gbpvr to import it as an xmltv file.
This method is used for most epg grabs other than DVB-T.
One problem with building it in is that it would be a solution just for the UK and as the author lives about as far away from the astra satellite as is possible, not easy to debug and not a great deal of incentive Big Grin

I'm currently happy at present with the Radio Times grab.

Have a look at:

http://www.geocities.com/pclareuk/DVBGui.../DVBGuide/

Currently though it just grabs all channels, which may not be what you need for your EPG. I ended up writing a program to reduce its output to just the channels I was after before importing it into gb-pvr. Other than that little niggle it seems to work ok.

Ah yes, I'd had a play around with that in the past, but pressure of time caused it to be left on the 'one of these days' pile. Thanks for the reminder.
