Hi

I've been happily using gb-pvr and recently moved house.
Aerial points to a different transmitter, and now I can't get any channels.

The transmitter list in the config I think does not list the new one but surely it would just scan the frequency and find stuff.

I've not changed anything else - just unplugged and moved. The signal here is ok - the digibox works fine and i've stuck a booster on just in case but nothing at all.

Any ideas how to retune to a new transmitter would be great as I thought it was just a case of rescan.

cheers

Keith

Do a scan, then zip and attach the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

If you're off the Rowridge transmitter like me then I found the new ini file on post #9 on this thread helped with a scan. Before that I had to have the scanning set to 'all regions'.

Hi Sub and McBainUK

I did as you said and an all region scan got me the channels.

I didn't even realise that Rowridge had changed and thats why I lost some channels before!

I don't think I'm pointing to Rowridge anymore - not sure where it points but I am just north of Romsey now and the aerial points west (ish).

I assume my Rowridge settings didn't correspond to the new transmitter - which is not surprising.

So I guess my next question is how do I create an ini file for the transmitter that I am pointing to?

thanks for the help

What I did was go to here:- http://www.aerialsandtv.com/digitalnationwide.html
Find which transmitter you are using, follow the link and make a note of the mux1 to mux6 frequencies. Then I search through the ?:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\BDA\DVB-T ini files for the one in my area and edit the frequencies. (if you can grep for your transmitter name it speeds things up!), Or you should?? be able to create a new one, using another as a template. Rowridge is 0113.ini

The aerial would have to point south(ish) for it to use Rowridge so you can count that out. I'm guessing it's pointing WNW to NW which would be Salisbury.

All UK transmitters have a corresponding ini file just select Salisbury in the cap. source setup.

Cheers,
Brian

Thanks for the info - I'm a bit slow in doing stuff but we're getting there !

The aerial points more on a line to andover or newbury - ah ha found it - I think I'm pointing to Hannington.

This software gadget will tell you the transmitter name and the frequencies ...

You may need to be careful with this if you get your signals from a relay transmitter
Code:
Frequency (Scanned) = 850000kHz
Frequency (Actual)  = 546000kHz
Transmitter Name    = Highlands & Islands.
Multiplex           = Mux 1
#Alternate frequencies
#Network_6("Highlands & Islands.", 850000, 8, 1)
#Network_6("Highlands & Islands.", 682166, 8, 1)
#Network_6("Highlands & Islands.", 530166, 8, 1)
#Network_6("Highlands & Islands.", 578166, 8, 1)
#Network_6("Highlands & Islands.", 578166, 8, 1)
Frequency (Scanned) is correct as is the Multiplex, but I get my signal from the 'Angus' transmitter. AFAIK these is no transmitter which is actually called 'Highlands & Islands'. I'm not sure how common this would be in the rest of the UK though...

It is a great tool for checking tuner card and antenna connection problems and it's definitely worth having on your system.
