Hi

I'm currently using 2 HVR-4000's, viewing and recording NZFreeview via satellite successfully.

What I would like to do now is add an MPEG2 encoder to record some Sky channels from my settop box.
It looks like I should be able to use a PVR-150 using the S-video and audio inputs to do this.

Has anyone done this and if so are there any pitfalls to watch for?

Thanks

Yes the pvr 150 does this. I have used on in the past with box sky and telstraclear set top boxes.

The main pitfall is teh control of the set top box (decoder) via infrared. The telstra clear box I had was not a supported "IR blaster" box, meaning the hauppage blaster could not be used to change channels onthe decoder. So I invested in a usb-uirt that i use to this day for sky - I use the same device for receiving remote commands from my harmony remote.

I'm not sure if the sky decoders are supported for ir blasting. But once you get that going it's great. I have mine set to record all night, leaving the day free for humans to change the channel on sky.

For blasting capability you need the retail version. The MCE one I do not think comes with a blaster. But if you already have the MCE remote receiver, I think this includes a baster anyway.

If you need any specific help with this let me know - I have a PVR-150 with MCE blaster controlling my Sky Digital box and it's working sweet.
AMD A8-3870K 3.0GHz (onboard ATI HD6550 graphics), 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD + 2TB Hard drives, Hauppauge Colossus 2 (HDMI), Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-S-Plus (DVB-S), Windows 10 64 bit, NPVR 6.1.5, MCE Remote/IR Blaster, IR Server Suite blasting to SKY TV (NZ) OnDemand set top box (Kaon NS1120).
