Found a problem with the built-in mpg2splt.ax MPEG-2 demultiplexer.. one of my ATSC channels broadcasts with 512 kb/s AC3 audio.. while watching Live TV it plays fine (presumably because of GB-PVR's parser)

but if I record the file and try to play it, then the system uses MPEG-2 Demultiplexer (mpg2splt.ax), and it fails to branch off the audio at all; it only finds a video stream in the file. the file itself has the audio though, and playing with VLC for instance it's fine.

can I make GB-PVR use it's own parser exclusively, even when not timeshifting and just playing a file?

What mux are you using, and have you tried different decoders?

tried both the TS Mux and ATI, as those are the only ones that work for me. different decoders don't make a difference.

just to explain it a bit better; if you render the graph in GraphStudio, the MPEG-2 Demultiplexer doesn't even offer an audio output. I've found that the Hauppauge splitter does find the audio and plays the file just fine, but I'm not able to seek through the file when using that splitter, so that wouldn't be practical.

If you just "Render File..." in GraphStudio, the FileSource (Async) filter is used. What happens if you use GBPVR TS Reader as the FileSource filter and then render the output pin?

Also, are you running any post-processing like comskip or a transcode?

Still have the same issue.. I don't have any post-processing happening.

here's a small 30mb sample clip:

Can you supply a sample using the TS mux?

ah, so the Haali splitter makes it work. Smile so I suppose I can just up the merit of it above the Microsoft one to make GB-PVR use it... thanks!

whurlston, I can try but I can't promise anything, since TS Mux is VERY flaky; it almost never works (just stutters for a few seconds and then locks up). ATI is the only mux that *just works* for me.

Don't worry about it. After some tests, I found that the MPC Splitter works on it as well.
