Well, as the title states I'm getting ready to set up my HTPC pretty soon and I just want to nail down a few things before I do. I found this set up list on the forum and just used it as a model (thanks Pob) to see if what i have works and to get some input on what people think i should use with my pc setup to get the best result. I'm not too sure that the hauppauge I have will work, though it worked well enough with BTV before the digital switch. I also have satellite but am not thinking of incorporating that in just yet. that is another project.

this is really my test HTPC, as I use it for email and what not. I am trying to talk the wife into letting me do a new build HTPC/Server pc in the basement and I think I can sell her on the pvr factor, but, I digress.

So, here is my set up so far. I have a ton of codecs and stuff. so, let me know what you think. I am interested in some of your experiences with GB-PVR, because I tried using it a year ago I think it was and didn't have to good a results, and wound up buying Beyondtv and it is okay but I would rather try something different...

Have a look and tell me what you think:

* Operating System Windows XP, Intel pen. 4 - 2.66 ghz, 1.99 gb ram, sp 3,
* Video card used Geforce 5200
* Analogue or digital tuner? Hauppauge pvr pci II 26xx / Conexant BDA DVB-s tuner/demod
* Video renderer ?
* Video decoder ?
* Audio decoder ?
* Multiplexor ?
* H264 playback ?
* DivX / XviD decoder ?
* Display connection DVI (PC) -> HDMI (TV) 32" lcd tv, up to 720 HD

I suppose my main concern is my capture card. I mean it all seems pretty straight forward and I'm pretty sure I can handle getting it up and running.

I appreciate all input.

From my experience,
See if you can get the Nvidia Decoder, AC3 filter, CoreAVC and the Xvid decoder. I have tried all possible codecs combination and these ones got me the best results.
Again you're free to try them all and go frustated witht he Codecs hell!!!

Please be patient and read the wiki, it has all the information to get you started. When posting something to the forums, please be specific. For example what EPG loader you are using? etc,.

For the tuner, Hauppage cards seems to work pretty good with GBPVR, just make sure it support QAM as of now TV and cable are transmitting digital.

I think that may be my problem. I would need to chech the digital option in the configuration, since the digital change. which is why i get one channel. I get one analog channel on my lcd tv. and to be honest i think its the same channel, 50. okay so, im going to have to upgrade, since im going with ota.

thanks for the reply...
