GBPVR 10311

My laptop is running Vista Basic

I have a kworld dvbt 323u tuner USB stick.

The GBPVR Tuning Settings window does not list this card type.

How do I go forward from this window.

Replies in simple terms please - Newbie

in the gb-pvr program directory, you will find a program called 'filtercheck.exe'. Run this and post the output here.

I must be doing something wrong.
Firstly I went to filtercheck.exe and double clicked.
The window ran for about half a second (black screen) and then the window closed.
Repeated this many times to read the one only line – “filter information dumped to filtercheck.log”.
I do not have a filtercheck.log

I then thought that I must have done something incorrect in the GBPVR installation.
Therefore I un-installed it.

I downloaded another from http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=40164 and ran this file.
Advised of good installation.
Double clicked PVRX2 and got blue “Browse the TV Guide …” screen.
The menu system seems to work ok, but am not getting any tv pictures.
My Kworld USB hybrid tv stick DVBT 323U has a blue light indicator when working, but GBPVR seems not able to activate it.
(I know it works because it is OK when I use Kworld and their own Hypermedia software.)
In the GBPVR folder there are 7 further folders
1 - Config – this seems to be working ok and I am accepting default settings
2 - Mux checker – tells me that my third party programs ore ok
3 - PVRX2 – sends me to the blue opening screen
4 - Re-register Filters – gives me a small window – black – with 2 lines of type.
5 - Re-start Recording Service – another small window – black – only there for half second.
6 - Stop Recording Service – ditto line above
7 - TuningAssistant.exe – which gives me “tuning settings” which is where I began my 1st post
I still do not have a filtercheck.log

My laptop is
Toshiba satellite pro l40
Celeron M440 1.86 GHz
512 MB + 512 MB memory 667 MHz
120 GB hard disk
Vista home basic 32 bit

I assume GBPVR will work on my machine.
I’m in your hands, and many thanks - Cos

try running filtercheck as administrator... vista user account control is probably hiding the file from you, or preventing it from writing. Or try running it from a command prompt (edit: either way, the filtercheck.log should appear in the gb-pvr program directory, the same place where the filtercheck.exe is)

also, you don't need to run the tuning assistant, that's only for analog cards

edit: oh, I just realized that card does analog and digital. the analog side simply will not work for GB-PVR, as it lacks the required hardware mpeg-2 encoder. as long as you're trying to use the digital (dvb-t) side, we should be able to get you going.

I've checked using command prompt and not found the filtercheck.log
and I accept that I will only be able to use the digital tuner, and now understand that the tuning assistant is for analogue only.
I list below a copy of files taken from command prompt

do you have user account control enabled? if so either disable it and try again or look for the filtercheck.log in c:\program DATA\devnz\gbpvr

C:\Program Data is a hidden directory, but you can see it with dir /a.

I consider User Account Control to be generally a good thing, but it does have some odd side effects at times.

edit: oops, I was thinking of the wrong thing... look in C:\Users\<Your Account>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Devnz

i just had another thought that may make it simpler for you: copy the filtercheck.exe program to your desktop, and run it from there. filtercheck.log should show up on the desktop

Copied filtercheck.exe to desktop, ran it, and obtained filtercheck.log - great - thanks.

Try adding this to your bda.ini file, then you should be able to setup a digital capture source:

[KWorld DVB-T 232U]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=BDA 2883 TVTuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=BDA 2883 Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

I copied and pasted this into bda.ini file.

I’ve also noticed that the instructions and images given in “Quick Start” do not quite match with those appearing in my version of GB-PVR v 1.3.11, and also the instructions are not explaining to a non technical person like me exactly how to configure the config windows.

I am assuming that the reason I am not receiving any tv is that I have not properly configured the “Capture Sources” tab.

In the “Edit Recording Source” tab, I have given the following

Source Name : Kworld Dongle
Recording Source : Digital Recording Plugin
EPG Source : DVB EPG Broadcast
Channel Changer : No Channel Changer Required

And have also clicked “Map digital channels to EPG channels” tab.

I am getting tv in the small window in the “Digital Channel Mapping” window. I have selected 3 channels to watch (at present)

I assume that I need to do something more, since I am not yet receiving TV when I click on “Live TV” on the blue menu.

Further help required please.
