Hi,
i just downloaded the latest GBPVR version 1.3.11 (after i found that my MCE which i used so far doesn't support live TV broadcast in DVB-T MPEG4).
anyway i have an AverTV Volar black HD USB card for recieving the live TV broadcast. The scanning of the channels works just fine in the applicaiton which comes with this card, and also in the MCE.
when i try to run the scan in the GBPVR (from the config.exe), it reaches the relevant frequency which has the actual broadcast, and hungs forever (the cofig.exe applicaiton is stuck also and must be "killed").

i checked the native log in this is what i see in the end (before it hungs):
2009-08-16 22:44:00.015 VERBOSE Getting current tuning request...
2009-08-16 22:44:00.517 VERBOSE Current CarrierFrequency=514000

2009-08-16 22:44:00.789 VERBOSE ScanTransponder@5

(attached is the full log)

any idea what is wrong?

Have you installed the patches from the survival guide? I think they addressed a number of scanning problems.

Hi,
10x for the response. i have installed the following patches:
- Updated: GBPVRTSReader.ax/GBPVRTSMon.ax/PsiParser.ax
- Running GB-PVR on Vista TV Pack, or Windows7
- Choice of MVP dongle.bin on Vista (old, but still relevent)
the rest seems less relevant.
It still didn't fix the problem.
BTW - i see that in the log file it says it is using MPEG2 decoder (lines like - ConnectPins: 'MPEG2 Transport' to 'MPEG-2 Stream') but i know the broadcast is MPEG4.
can this be related? anyway to tell him otherwise?

note - i'm using Vista SP2
10x again.

No, its not related to this. These are just the pin names the manufacturer chose to use, and they are technically correct too - MPEG4 channels are broadcast in an MPEG2 transport stream container.

10x guys for trying to help.
i thought maybe i can overcome the scaning problem by defining the relevant channels manually (i figure it must be stored somewhere - registry / some conf file). Any idea where and what is the format (i know the technical details - frequency and stuff, as the application which comes with the device displays it after scaning is over).
10x again.

Results of scanning are stored in \devnz\gbpvr\BDA\scan-nn.cache in text format.
I'm not sure there is a full description of the format, but channel, PIDs etc are stored in there. When you come to map the EPG channels to the scanned ones, that data is then stored in the SQL database.

I've seen the scan-nn.cache format posted here a few times. Some searching should find it. As an interesting aside, the entire line, exactly as it appears in the scan-nn.cache file, is stored in the gbpvr.db3 database and controls the tuning. I use the scan files to directly modify the database (instead of doing the mapping step in config) by converting them to a batch file.
