Their is a strange problem with my computer that I have never seen happen before, and it just started happening. I can turn the monitor off (whether manually by pushing the button or using power saver auto shutoff) and everything is fine. The problem comes when the monitor turns back on. For some reason when the monitor turns back on the computer restarts. I can't seem to figure out what is causing this to happen. Any suggestions? Would hardware information be helpful?

Very hard to tell. First, check for loose connections. Does your monitor have a USB port or ports on it? If so, if anything is connected to it, remove it.
If the monitor is connected to a power strip and so is the computer, separate them to different power strips.
Hardware info is always helpful.

i would re-install the video driver...video card usually re-initializes when turning back on monitor...
and if on UPS [battery backup] try changing outlets, it's batteries may be dying..

It does not have any USB ports. I just tried plugging the monitor into its own power strip with no luck

No UPS. I will reinstall the video drivers and see if that helps

there's also an option in the BIOS Setup called something to the effect of "Re-POST Video BIOS on Resume". It does exactly what it says it does, and obviously it shouldn't result in your computer rebooting... but if I had your problem I'd try changing that setting (it usually defaults to No, as POSTing the video bios isn't normally needed).

edit: actually, nevermind that suggestion... I just re-read your original post, and you're not talking about coming back from standby so that setting wouldn't get involved

I uninstalled the video drivers, then reinstalled with the newest version and that seemed to do the trick. I cant believe I didn't think of doing that right away!
Thanks for the help
