I am having difficulty configuring your software to work on my win XP (sp3) os with my dual tuner from HDHomeRun. I ran the configuration and clicked on the Capture Sources tab, clicked on the Add button to create a Capture Source, selected Digital Recording Plugin for Recording Source and then clicked on Settings to go to the Digital Source Configuration and selected the HDHomeRun Tuner #1 for the Device Type. Country is set to All Countries as I'm not able to find or select USA. And then saved this setting.

Back on the Create Capture Source window EPG Source was set to XMLTV Plugin but it didn't work so I click on the Map Digital Channel... button so I selected DVB EPG Broadcast. However when I click on the Map Digital Channel... button, I get an error message that says "GB-PVR was unable to start BDA device you have configured. Check the device is configured properly and not already in use.". The device is available and not in use by any other app.

Can you tell me how to configure this to work with the HDHomeRun Tuner. I've tried a variety of setting and have searched the forum to no avail.

Thanks

I just finished posting the ATSC/QAM setup guide at http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post349320

The DVB EPG option is not designed for North American users. The XMLTV option only works if you have and xmltv file with your EPG data. North American users should use Schedules Direct ($15/yr but has a 7 day trial) or mc2xml (if you want to use a free xmltv epg). EPG options can be found at http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/EPG#toc15

If you still get the "unable to start..." message after setting up the EPG, zip and post the logs folder.

finally figured out how to get the EPG to work, ran per your instruction but still had the same error message. I've attached the log per your request.

You've chosen some my DVB-C HDHomeRun from the device, rather than your own than your own ATSC/QAM HDHomeRun. I think you need to run the HDHomeRun setup app, and set the application to GB-PVR so that it adds your device to bda.ini (which means it'll be listed in the card list in the config app)

I changed the HDHomerun to reflect that GB-PVR was the main application. Before this though I checked the bda.ini file that you mentioned and see that the HDHomeRun tuners are both listed as having a "tuning_type" of DVB-C. I changed the first tuner to ATSC and left the second as DVB-C. Neither worked Same error message "GB-PVR was unable to start BDA device you have configured. Check the device is configured properly and not already in use."

I've attached screen shot of the config's for both HDHomeRun and GB. Also, deleted the old log files before doing the above and attached those too.

what's missing?

Are you running the current HDHomeRun software from the silicondust website, or the older software that came on CD with your device?

HDHomeRun instructions for GB-PVR can be found at http://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewtop...0072#30072

Alternatively, you can post your device ID and someone can create your bda.ini entry for you.

I manually add the HDHomeRun to the bda.ini. It's easier.
Code:
[Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner #1]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
;TUNING_SPECIAL=1
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-0
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Input0
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=Output1

[Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner #2]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
;TUNING_SPECIAL=1
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-1
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Input0
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=Output1
You need to replace the XXXXXXXX with the device ID of your HD Homerun. If you're trying to tune QAM instead of 8VSB (OTA) you need to remove the ; in front of the TUNING_SPECIAL=1 line.

Thank you Sub, whurlston & Stereodude for your input and help. It would appear, after looking further looking into the bda.ini file, that the system had created a newer definition for the HDHomeRun tuner at the end of the file. I don't know if this is considered a glitch or not, but I had selected the definition that appeared before the one the system created at the end. Didn't have the right tuner id which as a result caused the problems above. May I suggest that when a new definition is created that it replace the dummy one that is in the file. Causes less problems.

If I may, I have another question. Does GB-PVR know to run EPG every so often or do I have to do it manually? I'm using mc2xml that you recommended above.

Thanks again.

The entry you selected is for sub's HDHomeRun. The additional entries for yours that were created at the bottom was created by the HDHomeRun Setup from Silicondust, not by GB-PVR.

If you are using mc2xml, you will need to create an "UpdateEPG.bat" in the GB-PVR program folder. In that batch file, enter the command line for mc2xml to download your listings. GB-PVR will automatically run the batch file each night.
