Hello everyone.

I have successfully installed GBPVR and tuned all the channels through the tuning assistant.

I have installed three Hauppauge PVR 150 cards in my 3 PCI slots.

I then went to GBPVR config and then to 'Capture Sources' menu.

I then added 3 capture sources and named them Card1, Card2 and Card3.

In the 'settings' menu of each capture source, I selected Capture Device #1, #2 and #3 for the corresponding Board Numbers.

I also added channels for each capture source.

Now, I want to know how to record simultaneously from 3 different channels through the 3 different capture sources.

Dont know how to select them individually from the Recordings Menu / Manual Rec menu in the GBPVR Main Window.

I understand that GBPVR supports more than 2 tuners in one machine.

Thank you for the kind guidance.

Best Regards.
Amer

(p.s. am using an old version, v1.0.16. O/s WinXP SP2. PC is Dell Optiplex GX270 P4 2.8GHz 512RAM)

You don't select them, GBPVR will use them in based on availability in the priority order in the Capture Source box. LiveTV works in reverse priority.

Thanks for your answer.

When I press record the 2nd time, it says 'do you want to delete the first scheduled recording'? Does it look like its using only one tuner? I mean it should schedule 3 recordings for the same time without this prompt.

Regards.

GBPVR takes the channel name, looks in its database to find a free tuner to use and uses it. If a tuner is already in use, it just takes the next until there are none left - that is the point where it asks if you want to cancel an existing one.

Make sure your three sources each have an EPG imported and that the channel names are exactly the same.

I'm not sure which way the Hauppague driver works for multiple cards - some change the name for each device and some use the same name but use the logical number. If you tick the box that says something like "only show devices installed in this machine" then it should give an idea as to what the driver calls the PVR150 (I can't help, I only have one installed).

Its important to add that your channels need to come from a real epg source, not manually added channels. If you manually add channels, then they're only associated with that one capture source, if you use a real EPG then the channels will be available from any of the capture sources.

Dear sub and friends.

Is there any possibility or way to record from multiple sources without an EPG?

In fact there are no EPGs in my region. I have defined all channels manually.

Regards.

I am attaching some screenshots for your review :

Picture-1 : This picture shows all the 3 tv cards properly installed and active in GBPVR. And looks like they should be able to record simultaneously if required.

Picture-2 : Same 3 channels have been defined for each card (Card1, Card2 & Card3).

Picture-3 : Channels listed in the GBPVR Config Menu. This strangely shows the 3 channels being repeated 3 times. Why is that so?

Picture-4 : When trying to add capture device 4, prompt shows it cannot be installed (because there are only 3 tv cards). This shows that the 3 cards are properly installed in GBPVR.

Although I have tried many attempts unsuccessfully, but I swear that during one of my tries, I rememebr seeing the Picture-0 as showing two cards recording simultaneously. If only I could have GBPVR repeat it again..?

Regards.

You might have to make your own epg, just for importing the channels.
This is the first part of my epg, you can change the proper lines and than use it for your channel import.
Code:

<tv generator-info-name="NLGrabXMLTV for xmltv.assies.info" generator-info-url="NLGrabXMLTV@xs4all.nl">

            <display-name>Nederland 1</display-name>
            <display-name>1</display-name>

            <display-name>Nederland 2</display-name>
            <display-name>2</display-name>

            <display-name>Nederland 3</display-name>
            <display-name>3</display-name>

</tv>

After changing it to your liking, save it as whatever.xml and import it in every capturesource.

I noticed that you have given the cards different device numbers, you should NOT do that when they are separate cards! All cards will be device number 1 since there are only one tuner on each card, only cards with more than one tuner built into the card should get ascending device numbers, #1, #2 etc.
