Hey all,

After a good two years I was watching my recordings from the UK and seeing all these adverts to say freeview needs rescanning so I thought it might give me better reception / quality if I re-tune.

Anyway the long and the short of it is, when I go into the channels which have up to now rescanned fine I got the message "Failed to locate BDA device".

What is odd is that my Nova-T USB shows up fine, the settings are there from when it did work still. [ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

What I have tried is updating to the latest version (1.4.7), updating the runtime, updating the drivers and the WinTV. It works and scans fine in WINTV, loads first time but seems to be having an issue in GBPVR. I''m not aware that it's failing in the recordings yet but would like to find out what's causing it as I fear it means errors soon.

If it helps it did the same thing in the previous version too.

I've attached logs and screenshots

Thanks in advance!!

Andy

p.s. I have PVRX2.exe-native-2 and PVRX2.exe-native-3 which are about 750meg each. let me know if you need info from them as I can't u

Your device type is currently set to "Hauppauge Nova-T USB2". Check your bda.ini file has a [Hauppauge Nova-T USB2] section as a first step. It looks like it doesnt.

Hi!

Thanks for getting back to me, much appreciated! I looked in the bda.ini in C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR - searched within notepad and found this:

[Hauppauge Nova-T USB2]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=0
FILTER_RECEIVER=Hauppauge Nova USB2 DVB-T TV Receiver
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Antenna In Pin
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

Does any of that look spurious?

Thx

Andy

I would think it should have "RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1" not "RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=0"

I changed that so it looks like:

[Hauppauge Nova-T USB2]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Hauppauge Nova USB2 DVB-T TV Receiver
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Antenna In Pin
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

Restarted the recording service and same deal. I did notice over night it's still recording (thankfully!)

Now that you have it set that way, try scanning again, then repost the logs and I'll take another look.

Unfortunately I dont have a solution for you.

The logs look like its getting further than before, but some log messages are missing, making me think something is failing but not logging error. Unfortunately I cant check why that is at the moment (rebuilding my development machine at the moment).

Thanks - I understand Smile

I'll keep trying and report back if I find anything. The important thing for me is it's still recording! Big Grin

Hi again Sad

So i've spent the last few days trying just about everything. I gave up, uninstalled GBPVR, WINTV, drivers etc, CC cleanered it and reinstalled. I installed the Vista dongle bin version, drivers, GBPVR again and bingo, I saw the video show up on the scan and it scanned all the way until 5 out of 6 before it crashed. I then scanned again and now it's just crashing each time.

This is all it does now [ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

Doea anyone have any ideas? Attached are the logs if i've made any silly settings.

It is possible my Nova-t USB2 has had it after 3/4 years or being on 24/7? anyone heard of that? :eek:

[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]
Thanks so much
