That is something i missing there, would be great feature.

I believe it needs to be done on GB-PVR side (like MediaPortal did by adding MPC-HC subtitle engine). I known this is not possible on GB-PVR becouse it is not open source, but similar solution will be great.

Thanks.

It already does Subtitles + DXVA, namely .SRT subtitles, Teletext subtitles, and DVB Subtitles. I'm guessing you want some other type of subtitles?

All I can give you is a maybe on that one. GB-PVR doesnt currently give .mkv files any special attention currently, and instead focuses on the file types that GB-PVR records.

I fully understand that GB-PVR is and will be primary PVR - that is why i wrote it will be great to have such feature, becouse i think it is most missing one.
Too bad there is no other way how to have DXVA + subtitles on decoder (codec) part.

try using ccextractor to split the subs out as .srt, then they should play even in mkv i think..

And why should i do that? I put them in to MKV myself Smile I like all in one file. Becouse i have "good" CPU, i use DirectVoBSub to display them right now.

He was giving you a way to view the subtitles with DXVA until sub could get around to adding that feature.

To be sure I understand --

Hardware acceleration (DXVA) for MKV containers containing subtitles is not possible with GBPVR at all? Are there other routes to HA, or am I pretty much hooped?

Splitting the subtitle streams out of the container is not an option - I depend on the hash of the original file.

As far as I know, subtitles break DXVA. MPC HomeCinema uses a custom renderer, iirc, so it can have DXVA and subtitles at the same time. GB-PVR supports external players, last I checked, so perhaps you can set MKV's to open with MPC-HC.

If you don't have a keyboard/mouse attached to your HTPC, it's possible to map out functions to some remote buttons. For my set-up, I use the channel up button for subtitle changing and the channel down button for switching audio.
