Dear All,

Sorry to bother.

I've just installed GBPVR 1.4.7 on an XP Pro box with a Tevion DVB-T 100. Thanks for the excellent guides. GBPVR picks up the card, does a channel scan and gets the EPG fine. Live TV gives me audio but no video. Live preview is enabled. Any ideas? Do I need to have DirectX installed?

Card works fine as I have also installed latest Kworld drivers and software which work but the software is a bit rubbish.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Adam

You could try these ...

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPA_Decoder.htm

After installing the decoders, select them on the Playback tab of Config.exe.

These are usually recommended as the default ,works-with-anything, start-here decoders.

Good Luck

Graham,

Thanks for that. Since the Kworld stuff is working I guessed I had working codecs on the machine already. The problem appears to be solved by changing MPEG-2 Playback: Video Decoder, Audio Decoder and AC3 Decoder away from System Defaults and going for the Cyberlink (Kworld) codecs.

Thanks alot.

Should I mention this solution to any of the documentation maintainers?

Cheers,

Adam

You have done exactly what I would have recommended if I had known which decoders came with your TV card. My view is that the card manufacturer is quite likely to supply decoders that work good with the card that they make.

Updates to the Wiki happen in fits and starts when someone or other gets a burst of enthusiasm. The issues around decoders are many and various and its probably impossible to write a Wiki that covers them all ... not least because GBPVR probably doesn't support all of the decoders that are supplied with the squillions of types of cards that are out there.
