Elves are working hard Big Grin

Now on to 'F' though still no answer as to whether default GBPVR dongle loads to an NMT...... Sad

On the 'F's can anyone do filter?

From Wiki

Quote:Filter {More Info needed}

Still offering virtual stocking fillers......

Cheers

I do wish I hadn't started this now. Even with the Elves that have worked I think it just got no support somewhere.

Stuck on this entry for:

Filters:

Part of Microsoft DirectShow. Processes an AV data stream. A set of default filters will install automatically with a windows operating system. Multiple data formats are supported with added hardware independance. Custom filters can be added. An essential part of your extended GBPVR experience.

Does that really explain filters?

Don't really care about my countdown to Christmas but when I 1st posted the Glossary idea people thought it was good but so few have contributed since Sad

Is it because it's Christmas?

Cheers

I told you it wouldn't be fun and it is a lot of work, plus with a living document it will not end. You have to do this kind of thing as a personal passion. Look at my posts asking for mpeg-ts samples, the community doesn't always step up, just don't be deterred if you feel it's worth it.

Martin, I agree with you on every level. Of course you are right a 'living document' will never end!

It has now moved beyond personal passion to obsession Big Grin

I'm almost half-way there (at least I can go a-z then stop!) and there has been some good community response to fill in some gaps.

I know your posts about mpeg-ts samples very well because I always read as many of your posts as I can (when I catch them, like all of us posts get missed).

I do realise always not always a stepping up but I will not be deterred until I get to Z. Unless of course there's the number section to include like 720P, 1080i etc!

Thank you so much I've found your post very supportive. I just want to get to z by 25th Dec then I'll stop, maybe..... Big Grin

Take care

I am 99.99999999% sure the Hauppauge dongle included with GB is only for the MVP & you HAVE to load mxpmcx2 to use GB-PVR with an NMT.

I am one of the ones that thought it was a good idea but I have not contributed because I know so little. I have used the glossary quite a few times when reading posts on the forum and don't understand what the abbreviations mean.

Please keep up the good work and thanks to you and all who have contributed

'fraid to say I'm learning rather than contributing...

But.... I would have removed all mention of NMT from the dongle description.
For the MVP it automatically loads a dongle as it absolutely needs one - Hauppauge, gbpvr or mvpmc.

The NMT/PCH etc are standalone devices and need extra work to get their emulation working and I can't see the 'dongle' word being associated with them.

good luck

No more Scrooge. Part of this is already on the wiki and is effective

dongle (or dongle.bin)

* The dongle is effectively the software that runs on the MVP. dongle.bin is the original software written by Hauppauge.
* check http://mvpmc.sourceforge.net/idx.php?pg=downloads for an alternative dongle.bin that contains mvpmc

mvpmc is an open-source software alternative to the software provided by Hauppauge for the MVP which adds many enhanced features. One of these features is a client for GBPVR (aka Emulation Mode)

mvpmcx2 is a software client for GBPVR that runs on the Syabas NMT platform (Popcorn Hour, EGreat, HDX etc)

I know it's boring but anyone fancy a stab at Filter?

Here still: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/Glossary

Filter {More Info needed}

Virtual mince pies are now moving more towards a shot of brandy and a silly Santa hat, virtually of course.

Cheers
