I've installed and selected my technotrend DVB-S BDA driver as the capture device ... but how do I tune any channels ??

Also is there / will there be any way of settingup the Diseqc options for multiple LNB setups?

thanks

1) setup your BDA device, and select the correct satellite from the supplied list.
2) setup your EPG source and do an 'update epg' so that it pulls in the list of channels.
3) click the 'Map digital channels to EPG channel' button, which will then scan the satellite for channels.
4) Once the scan has completed, then for each channel in the EPG channel list select the correct digital channel that was found during the scan.

No, not this stage. I dont know how this works, and I only have one LNB.

Hmmm ... do I have to have an EPG source? I don't particularly need one and whatever I use has to be diseqc eventually and I've yet to see an EPG source that covers all teh channels I get ..

I will give it another go though ...

The simplest way to impliment diseqc is the std 1-4 option to setup four different satellites ...

Ideally, yes. If you have channels that aren't listed you can use th 'add channel' button to create a new channel, but this channel wont have any listings so wont be very useful (ie cant schedule from TV Guide etc).

After discussions with many people around the world, we decided the built in EPG that is transmitted in the transport stream is usually either not present, or does not supply enought data, or enough details, so we decided to continue requiring the user to supply the EPG list separately.

I'm the first to admit that GB-PVR may not meet everybodies needs, but I at least provide another option that people can evaluate.

Yeah - I see how it works now. I could be here for a long time adding channels to the EPG, and as they have no data - there is no point! Can't you manually schedule a recording? Also no way to add a channel that isn't detected by a scan (quite a few aren't e.g. those elusive BBCi feeeds).

I really think something different is needed for dvb-s - download dreamedit and take a look - you can get a good feeling for what it does without owning a dreambox.

I managed to tune in to bbc1-4 though (on my system a full scan of 4 satellite is 3000 tv+radio channels, about 1000 of which aren't encoded, and about 100 of which I actually want and only 5 of which where is a readily available epg!Wink.

I currently use showshifter dvb (without any EPG!Wink but it doesn't support diseqc yet! so I'm missing 3/4 of my channels on my hard disk recorder !

But I'm new to gbprv (turned up as dvb is supported), and I couldn't work out how to change channel (either with keyboard or mouse). I use a cordless, surface mouse for my htpc (gyration).

Anyway, it's good to see more dvb support - it can't be long now before I get a usable hard disk recorder for my multi-satellite setup.
