Is there an easy way to change the recording directory with all existing recordings? Present directory i.e. E:\MyPVR, new directory D:\My Recordings.

One solution which does comes to my mind:
- export recording database;
- stop recording service;
- edit the recording dump xml file with search and replace;
- import this file;
- move all recordings to new directory;
- change recording path in GBPVR;
- restart GBPVR.

The database will now contain double entries but these will automaticly be deleted because the recordings in the "old" directory can not be found.

Has anybody an easier and/or better solution and does my idea realy work? Who has done something like this?

That should work fine. But.....

I would make a copy of the database gbpvr.db3 "just in case".
If possible I would copy rather than move the recordings just in case something happens that restarts gbpvr or your machine and it starts erasing the entries. Once gbpvr is up and working with files in their new locations, I would delete the old ones.

There again - I suspect someone has already written a tool to do this job and will pop up with its name shortly.

or from the wiki
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...leArchiver (although I've not tried it).

I'v used OrakelJos method myself and it works safely. Vidimport works too but you'll lose some information that is preserved by exporting, moving and importing recordings. That said, the simple archiver works too and is an easy way to move recordings from one folder to another.

Thanks for all your suggestions. In fact when I am talking about moving it is of course first copying and than delete Wink
Simple Archiver looks nice because you can move over file by file but I doubt that it will work for me because GBPVR can have only one recordings directory so in the meantime it would still delete the entries in the database because it cannot find the files.

Can't you turn off the delete function while you are moving with this?

Actually no, I'v used Simple Archiver to move large recordings to another disk and they still stay in the Recordings overview even if they are moved.

I agree with this. You can save recordings all over the place as long as the database points to where they are. All the config entry does is say where new recordings will be saved.

p.s. I also have the autoremove set to false all the time, I don't remove recordings outside of gbpvr and my recordings are on a second drive, so if it is slow at starting up or anything I didn't want them erasing from the Db.
