Hi Sub,

I've got a really strange problem thats cropped up recently. Any .ts files I record with GBPVR, I can't play them back -- the video is fine but there's no sound.

I can playback the files fine in both WMP and VideoLan with sound, but GBPVR won't!

I tried re-registering the filters and other panic tweaks (turn off internal .ts reader, etc) but with no avail.

Any suggestions on where to look?

Thanks,
Dane

Its worth noting the Microsoft audio decoder will give no AC3 audio in 3rd party apps. On Microsoft's MSDN they mention this is the correct behaviour, and AC3 is not available to other apps.

Hi Sub,

good to know -- although the file is plain jane mpeg2 audio.

The funny thing is that .mpg files play just fine...

I'm going to try recording a short piece and letting GBPVR transcode into .mpg and see what happens.

Did you try other audio decoders?

Yes, I've got filters for

MPEG2 Audio Decoder
Cyberlink Audio Decoder (TerraTec)
Microsoft DTV-DTD

Interestingly enough the MPG re-encode failed as well -- probably a rights issue, need to check this later.

As I said, the files play fine in both VideoLan and Media Player -- just GBPVR has troubles.

I just converted the file manually (using your ffmpeg and parameters), and had no troubles playing back the resulting mpg file -- it just does not like .ts files now.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dane

If you can supply a small sample file, I'll check if I can play it here. If not, I'll work out why not.

I just tried it with 1.4.7, and it gave me audio, so I'm sure the recording itself is fine. It must be somehow related to the audio decoder. Can you post the logs with that Cyberlink audio decoder selected?

Hi Sub,

I just re-installed 1.4.7 and no luck -- I think something in direct(whatever) in the background is broken. The playback for TS goes thru dx, while it seems that the mpg playback uses a different path.

Any option to patch the problem on mpeg auto transcoding? The WAF is dropping...

I will try a repair install of Win7 tonight, otherwise it's scrap the disk and try again.

Thanks,
Dane

Hmm -- will also install ffdshow and see what happens -- can't get any worse at the moment...

--- update ---

Solved with ffdshow -- no clue why, but the files play now!
