I am using GBPVR 1.4.7 with a Hauppauge HVR 1600 card. I have basic cable which includes a mixture of analog and digital channels. The digital channels are clear QAM. I can see and record the analog channels.

I have added a second capture device and selected Hauppauge HVR-1600 (QAM) for the capture device. I scanned for the digital channels and they were found.

However, I cannot view or record a digital channel because they do not show in the guide. What must I do to view a digital channel, for example 110-1? What must I do to record a channel that does not appear in the guide?

Thanks.

I'm on the wrong continent to give a proper answer but from what I have read in other posts ...

Can you specify two different lineups in your EPG source (Schedules Direct or whatever) so that one lineup gives you a list of analog channels and the other lineup gives tou a list of QAM channels? You can specify the analog channels for the analog Capture Source in Config and blah digital channels blah. GBPVR will merge the two channel lists in the TV Guide.

Did you map the channels on the 'map digital channels to epg channels' screen (by clicking the tuning request column next to each channel). You need to do this or the channels are automatically disabled (and wont show up in the guide).

I believe I followed your instructions but I now have a bunch of new high numbered channels in the guide, far more than the number of channels I mapped. These new channels have channel numbers that do not correspond to anything so I cannot tell what they are and there is still no way to record from the digital channels (if that is what some of these new channels are).

Unless there is some way to tell GBPVR to record channel 27-1 from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm I cannot see how this is usable with the cable service I have. I am very new to this so I may be missing something.

FWIW, I can view and record any channel easily in WinTV7 so I know the hardware is working correctly.

Can you post a screenshot of your capture source channel list? I'll be able to tell from that if you've got them mapped correctly.

I am not sure which list you want to see so I have attached the three that seem most likely. Another question is, how can I remove a channel mapping? There are several in the list that are mistakes.

That looks correct. Can you not see "4 KVOA" (for example) in your TV Guide?

Yes, I see 4 KVOA in the guide just as I always have. Are you saying that if I select something to record on 4 KVOA I will now record the digital signal from channel 4-1 which is what I mapped to channel 4 on the QAM source?

If that is the case, how do I handle channels 27-1, 27-2, 27-3, etc. 27-1 is the same as analog channel 6 but in digital high def. 27-2 and 27-3 are completely different programming.

I also get 110-1 which is the same programming as analog channel 47 but the programs appear on 110-1 three hours earlier than they appear on 47.

Finally, how can I delete a mapping?

Thanks for your help and patience.

You can change the channel numbers in the Channels tab of the config app. Unfortunately you can't use dashes or periods in the channel number for sub channels.
CPU/GPU: 3ghz C2Q/Nvidia 9600gt
Tuners: TBS QBox II/ Genpix Skywalker-1/ WinTV HVR 1600
Antenna Setup: 39" dish, SG2100, QPH031/ 40ft tower(ATSC)

For completeness ...

GBPVR uses the channel names found in the EPG source. GBPVR assigns its own channel numbers to each EPG source channel. The names and numbers in the broadcast stream are not used by GBPVR (except to assist in the process of mapping broadcast channels to EPG channels).

To illustrate, using UK channels, I have one EPG source of analog channels called BBC ONE and BBC TWO and an EPG source of digital channels called BBC TWO and BBC THREE, GBPVR would conclude that I have a total of three channels and would number them 1 and 2 and 3 (as shown on the channels tab and these channel numbers would be used on the remote).

If I wanted GBPVR to see BBC TWO digital as different from BBC TWO analog, I would have to interfere with the EPG source in some way to make sure that the names were different in each of the analog and digital sources.
