Had this problem in the previous version as well. I thought maybe it was a hardware issue. I had one Hauppauge PVR-350 card and 2 HVR-1600 cards. Every so often (totally randomly, could be days, could be weeks) the system would "lose" 2 of the 3 cards and I'd only be able to record 1 thing at a time (and in the process missing my recordings, obviously). The cards are still there in windows device manager (btw this is XP Pro SP3). I decided maybe the old 350 card was the problem, so I picked up 2 HVR-1800's and also took 1 1600 out (current system 1 1600 2 1800's). Also upgraded the hard drive and decided to completely re-load XP to see if something was corrupted in windows. That was a week or two ago, and tonight I notice recordings from last night got missed! Same problem! Only 1 card working, once again. This is getting VERY VERY VERY frustrating and I don't know where else to ask for help but here. Please let me know if I need to post whatever logs or if anyone has any ideas, thanks.

this may be of some use to you..[with a few mods for your cards]
http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...to=newpost
basically a script to restart the cards, to be run after suspend...[which was his problem]
i'd run it from epg update to see if it catches any of the disconnects..at least may be able to see in logs when it's happening..[it logs tuner status]

other than that i'd try using only 1 of each type tuner to see if it was a driver instancing problem...

Mine does the same and is a hardware or Hauppauge driver problem.

I lose my Hauppauge digital tuners about every 2 or three weeks. I don't know if it is the driver of device that craps out, but a reboot always fixes it.
Restarting the driver with devcon 99% of the time insists on a reboot anyway.

I bet you use standby or hibernate ?? this is what seems to eventually upset mine - if I just leave it on 24/7 it seems OK.

I run devcon /status of my tuners and email them to myself and keep an eye on it.
I'll have a go at the script pBS pointed to as it would appear to be the best fix.
There is one possible problem though, when it fails - checking my devcon email logs against missed recordings - when the PC comes out of hibernate devcon shows it as OK, but the recording fails. The NEXT devcon status shows the error. So I guess I could lose one recording, which is better than all after the failure.
It would be nice for an "on error" batch file from the recording service, but I suppose that is asking too much of sub.

I had a feeling you were both going to think it was suspend/hibernate related issue, however, I DO NOT use suspend/hibernate on this box, it's on 24/7, and still has this problem. Odd thing is it seems to only be a somewhat "recent-ish" issue, been happening for the last several months, but I've been running GB-PVR for years now. This does give me an idea, though...even after the reload and everything else 1 of the common factors is the UPS that's on this machine (which, admittedly is getting a little old and the software for it is kind of funky) perhaps that's whats causing the issue?

Getting even more cards in the mix really isn't an option, I just bought these 1800 cards to try to resolve this!

try running without the ups software loaded and see how it goes...you'll still be protected, just not if blackout goes on for hours..
also, make sure if running os with mce, to be sure mce isn't grabbing the cards when it feels like it..disable or uninstall media center...
[either all the services, or in win7,can just disable access to it in 'default programs']
maybe that's what's holding on to them and keeping gbpvr from using them..

It's XP Pro, not Vista or 7 or XP MCE (although I was thinking about running XP MCE then decided, why bother?)

But on another note, I decided to pull the UPS altogether and swap for another one I have here just to see if it would make any difference. Imagine my surprise when I pulled the power from the UPS and it DIED COMPLETELY! No beeps no nothing, just turned right off. Funny how the UPS software thought all was well, too. Piece of junk! I haven't loaded the new UPS software yet, but I did uninstall the old one. Hibernation wasn't even enabled (not sure if its required on the other UPS software or not, we'll see). Not sure if this is conclusive as to what was causing the issue or not but it certainly wasn't a good thing. I'll have to keep this thread on "warm" until some time goes by to see if we're back in business or not.

PC runs great, rock solid never crashes. I *think* the PSU is 300W, not sure off the top of my head, Athlon 4000+ (939), NVidia gfx card (fanless) 1TB Samsung HDD, 1 DVD-ROM drive, that's it, nothing crazy.
