Hi,

I have recently tried to install and configure GBPVR as alternative PVR
for my DTV Leadtek Winfast USB Dongle Gold .
I went step by step along guide for DVB-T till channel scanning.

It finds and correctly displays TV shows from all available DVB-T multiplexes.
But it strangely keeps empty channel list and finally claims it has found nothing.
Could you, please, give me an advice what to do ?
( Location Brno, Czech Republic )

Note that I have not noticed any troubles in channel scanning in WinfastPVR2 or Media center.

I wanted to attach a ZIP with logs, but for some reasons clicking to icons
or button Manage attachments does not work. So I have used rapidshareto provide logs

http://rapidshare.com/files/377519976/GB...s.zip.html

Aside of configs in ZIP, I have also tried to increase start delay in confix.xml from 1 to 5 s,
and wait delay from 15 to 30s, and switch on 144(?) kHz shift scanning.
I have read in forum it can help in some cases, but without success.

I have also installed Cyberlink MPG mux,
seeing in logs Config utility was trying to create MPG file root folder.
But no difference.

There is used tailored channel list of local broadcastings in config/logs in ZIP.
As TV source is used common signal in block of flats
Last 2 from list of 6 are not really present in a signal.
Before creating logs I have used also All regions settings with all frequency scan, no success.

I use DTV Leadtek Winfast USB Dongle Gold for DVB-T on Vista64 Premium SP2.
I use original PVR Leadtek Winfast2, but it has some troubles in importing all data from channel stream EPG.
I also use Vista original MCE, but there is inline EPG for 4 main local channels only.
I have tried also TV Pack 2008. But because I have not found any working and free solution to convert WTV files, and it crippled my Leadtek WinfastPVR2 installation, I reverted back.

As other solution, if GBPVR would not be usable for me,
I am thinking about XMLTV proxy utility to import EPG to MCE from local stored EPG, extracted from DVB-T by DVBGuide. ( Unfortunately, MCGuideLoad from DVBGuide is not working for Vista64 - confirmed by author)

Edit:If relevant, I was not able to install it by standard way, getting fatal error.
I had to used the workaround from Ms site, mentioning problems with MSi scripts:
MSIEXEC /i package /gr+

Also, config seems to have troubles with keeping chosen language.
There is in logs mentioned a path to language subfolder was not found (like that),
but the folder is on its place.

GBPVR support seems to have enough space for emprovement - I went to XMLTV proxy way to provide complete DVBGuide based EPG guide to Vista64 MCE.

It looked promising. It is a pity I have to uninstall as useless.

If you run ReRegisterFilters.bat, it should find your channels. If you're on Vista or Win7, you'll probably need to run this from a command prompt started with 'run as administrator'.

Thanks for reply. It worked and I have all channels tuned.

But I have now very different problem - the used font for EPG info, I would need some Central European ( Win-1250 / ISO-8859-2 ).
GBPVR puts to all program info ( and recording names ) some strange characters before letters with diacritics.
I even cannot use Free Commander to navigate to recorded folder, because it does not support Unicode.

I have not found any font settings but subtattle font in config.xml, where I have tried to replace Arial by Ariel CE, but without success.
Note that I retrieve EPG from program channel streams, and localized czech menus in PVRX2 do not have font/character problems.

Vista64 SP2 Home Premium, Czech localization.

I havnt heard of any problem with this in the past, but if it is really a font problem, you can probably fix by tweaking the font in "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\skin2\blue\TV Guide\skin.xml".

I think its more likely to be a problem with the xmltv file you're feeding to GB-PVR. Like it the file not specifying the correct encoding on the first line of the xml.

I dont what Free Commander is, but if it doesnt support Unicode, there isnt much I can do about it. The recording filenames are derived from the show names, and if they contain unicode characters, then the filename will contain unicode charaters. Sorry.

I will try the mentioned skin fix solution too. But I have unexpectedly found another solution to font issue.

Original EPG feeding with bad font came directly from DVB-T EPG stream, processed by GBPVR only.

In last few weeks I was updating EPG in Windows Media Center by XMLTV Guide proxy.
It imports to MCE xmltv.dtd file, prepared by script processing of multiple DVB-T stream EPG by DVBGuide.
( DVBGuide extract EPG streams and stores them to XML.)

When I replaced EPG source in GBPVR Config from DVBT EPG stream to that XMLTV.DTD source, the font got fixed itself.
So, GBPVR has font problem with EPG stream, but not with provided xmltv file. Smile

Filenames are not problem.

Looking in the skin.xml I have not found any font related item, unless you have meant to add to some particular place font item, where it is not present by default.

Perhaps if you post your xmltv file and a screen capture showing the problem it would be easier to visualize? I'm guessing the problem is in the utf-8 encoding of the xmltv file.

But my xmltv.dtd file provided externally to DBPVR is correct, having

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

in the first line, and producing the right characters on the screen.

I have not found anywhere in GBPVR folder processed EPG stream, when I have GBPVr configured to get EPG directly from the stream.
So I cannot evaluate if the data has correct UTF-8 header.

Looks like my instance of GBPVR has problem with correct processing EPG stream,
or stream is incorrect and my processing unintentionally fixes it Smile.
It is basically stripping headers/footers of 3 xmls, merging to 1 dtd, explicitly adding UTF-8 header.
I do not know for know, if xmls produced by DVBGuide from any of 3 DVB-T multiplexes contain utf-8 header or not.

The screwed font looks like having "euro" + e" instead of ě , where e is any letter with "reversed roof")
or
some caligraphic medieval-like capital letter R + a instead of "á", where a is any letter with that diacritic.

similar to czech letter ů
