I've setup a scheduled recording (Springwatch) but each time it tries to start nrecord.exe bombs out.

Ive attached logs and mdmp file produced.

Cheers, Darrell.

Looked in the recording directory and have about 10-20 seconds of show only.

Can you see if this patch helps? Replace the existing file of the same name.

Thanks sub, but unfortunately still crashes. Sad

If it helps heres the latest logs and crash reports. Let me know if you need anything else?

One question. I had to rebuild the PC after a disk crash. Currently running Windows XP with SP2 plus updates. Not got around to SP3 yet. Are there any pre-requisites for nPVR I may be missing?

Cheers, Darrell.

Ok. Reading through that article I need to install Winxp sp3 and check versions of some dlls. Will do this and report back on progress.

Thanks. Darrell.

Installed WinXP SP3 and no more crashing. :-)

Happyness was short lived as I setup a recording "BBC News" and when it finished it was marked as "Recording service not running at the time" or something similar. Looking in the directory there is a nice big file 1gb ish and according to the status from the status icon it is still recording BBC News 10 minutes after it should have stopped. Just checked the file and it is still growing.

So looks like recording starts OK, does not stop, and then marked incorrectly as recording service not running, but continues to record.

I'm leaving it running overnight to see if it correctly records anything off the schedule.

In the meantime here are the logs so far.

Cheers, Darrell.

It happend to me also (in fact I still have a 23 hours recording), but only once. But quite often recordings are marked as "failed because recording service not running etc.." even the file in the folder is perfectly ok and can be watched via Video library.

That's exactly what I've found. And more interestingly I am watching the BBC news file created even as npvr continues to record to the file. I never realised that this would work!

Tested with a number of recordings overnight and have not had a repeat of the recording not stopping problem. So maybe just a glitch.

At the moment recordings are being scheduled and made fine.

So for the record, looks like sp3 on winxp is a prerequisite. Smile

Cheers, Darrell.
