I feel like I've missed something here. I've just installed 1.5.21 over 1.5.19 and lost the start NPVR option when I right-click on the tray icon. I also found that the window does not retain it's size when I change it (an improvement stated in the changelog), and the installer and Settings window still state that it is version 1.5.19.

I then unsinstalled NPVR and deleted the User-Public-NPVR folder then tried a complete fresh install (rebootng the PC each time), but with no improvement. Later I again uninstalled and deleted everything and put back 1.5.19 but I still can't start NPVR from the tray icon (just Show Status and Exit). I'm worried that I've overlooked something so obvious that I shouldn't even be posting this and showing how dumb I am, but I'm sure that I could bring up a start option by right-click the tray icon an hour ago!

Check if there are any npvr-files in Virtual Store (C:\Users\<your user>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore) and if there are delete them.

OK. I've taken the easy way out and performed a System Restore, and things are all right again with 1.5.19. For now I'll keep an eye on others experiences with the upgrade.

Ok, was worth looking at anyway Smile. Did you make sure that nighter Ntray nor Nrecord was running when you tried to upgrade? (Start->Run Services.msc, find NPVR Recording Service and stop it).

Edit: Try running the installer as Administrator.

The installer said it was 1.5.21 when I installed it, for me setting say 1.5.20 though & I have the start NPVR from the trayicon right click option, maybe you didn't get the updated version when you downloaded?

Thanks

Reddwarf. Maybe Nrecord was causing the problem as I has checked Ctrl-Shift-Esc - Processes but (due to my ignorance) not Services, and a quick look now shows NPVR Recording Service there. It's getting late so I'll use some self discipline and try that tomorrow night.

Jaggy, I triple checked the download location. It didn't help me that the file size was the same as 1.5.19 (and so was the file name).

It works for me, but the thread itself is nonsense This feature even if was working is so trivial why would you hold off for it? How hard is it to make your own Quick Launch taskbar item? I think it might have been added after .19 anyway.

Thank you mvallevand for confirming that it works for you. The reason for my post is not simply because this feature is not available, but rather that I'm looking for advice because there something inherently wrong my installation. I'm no computer expert and things that are simple to others (like locating the NPVR Service) I overlook. I've downloaded what should be 1.5.21 from the beginning of the 'GB-PVR Announcements - 1.5.21 beta available (24th June)' thread but it keeps installing as 1.5.19, I don't get the new features listed in that thread, response time to clicking on the tray icon slows right down, and I have other issues. I'll study things more tomorrow, but once I stopped the NPVR Service & installed 1.5.21 again I was no longer missing the Start NPVR menu item when right clicking on the tray icon, but the other issues remain.

Why not uninstall then reinstall. Save your .db3 file in case of a problem before you uninstall but the uninstall should remove all the old files which will be replaced with the new install.
I've had similar problems with GBPVR and uninstalling usually fixed them.
