This is a new install from scratch and my older dvd's play fine. But newer ones(probably CSS) ones won't. I get no audio or video. The logs aren't really telling me what is happening, only beginning to play dvd from the appropriate drive letter. I have the audio & video set at system default, but have tried every other option i have. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Pretty much all you can do is try different decoders. Also make sure you're playing DVDs from the correct region.

audio or video encoders. I saw in a post where a audio renderer caused a similar problem. Is there a specific encoder i should try, or is it dependant on my hardware.

you need a CSS capable video decoder to read commercial DVD's. Audio Renderer should pretty much always be set at "System Default" unless you know you have a reason to change it.
