use hauppauge remote receiver with a generic remote?

Can anyone tell me if there's any software that makes it possible to use the hauppauge IR receiver (the one that plugs into the tuner card, not the USB sort) with a random (non-learning) remote?

I know there is software that can learn whatever codes the remote sends, but I can't tell if any of them can be made to work with the Hauppauge receiver.

Is this possible only using some other receiver like a USB-UIRT?

ir server suite does have a receive only plugin, so i'd think it would work with that...you'll have to try it tho cuz i don't have one anymore..
i know it won't work with every remote out there cuz it can't translate all the protocols, but 90% of modern remotes should work..[RC5,RC6,etc]
the Hauppauge remote is a RC5 remote and mce remotes are RC6 codesets..
