Can I use DVB card EPG with analog TV card capture?

Well, the title says it all but I have a Hauppauge PVR-500 through which I get my TV capture but want to know if I can used the EPG from a separate DVB-S card? If possible, just how would I configure this as the EPG configure section has the DVB option but there is no settings to set the type of DVB card.

A lot of people use DvbToXMLTV to extra the DVB-S EPG to an xmltv file, then configure their capture sources to use that xmltv epg source.

(You do need to setup a DVB-S capture source for the device, but you dont need to enable any channels on it if you dont want to directly use it directly)

First off try a forum search, there was a tread recently that I posted my DvbToXMLTV config in that had a link to the exe. If you can't find it let me know & I will find it for you.

To make life a bit easier here it is including the config, all the provider "we won't name" entries are rem'ed out in it, when you look anything like "<!-- xxxx -->" is rem'ed out.

If you don't already know use notepad to edit the config NOT wordpad.

Oops almost forgot, both files have to be in your GBPVR directory for it to work.

Many thanks Jaggy, that's *exactly* what I think I'm looking for. So your saying I place the .exe and .xml in the C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR but how is the .exe run, via a Scheduled Task??? What do I need to set-up in the Capture Devices entry for the DVB-S card please? Yes, and all because the "we won't name" provider has become so anal, djkxml used to work fine for me.

Thats how I run it, but you can create a batch file in gbpvr callede updateepg.bat
This gets called before the epg update, and am pretty sure it waits for it to finish before updating the epg.
