I just received this:
Quote: We have some great news! The Ceton InfiniTV 4 has begun shipping!

The first batch of production units have landed in the US and are en-route to the Pre-Order Program retailers (Zones, Cannon PC and Fluid Digital). As we mentioned previously, they will ship to consumers on a first ordered/first shipped basis. We expect this first batch of units will start arriving at consumer homes starting next week, depending on the shipment method chosen when the pre-order was placed. As we also mentioned previously, your credit card will be charged when your unit(s) ship and some people will start seeing credit card pre-authorizations and charges starting this week. The production units are being produced in waves, which means the next batch is currently being manufactured, and will follow this same process until all the Pre-Order Program units have been delivered to your doors. We will continue to manufacture and ship all Pre-Order Program units as fast as we can but it will take some weeks for the entire backlog of orders to arrive at their end destination. Thank you for your continued support and patience.

We also want to let you know that we have posted the InfiniTV 4 Installer application, detailed installation instructions, an installation video (courtesy of Cannon PC) and warranty information on a new InfiniTV 4 support page on our web site.

Important note for FiOS customers: due to recent changes related to encrypting content on some FiOS networks, we will be posting a firmware update on the support site above for FiOS customers only. Non-FiOS customers can install the update but there will be no benefit.

Cheers,

The Ceton Team

What surprised me, was the fact that this works with FiOS. I thought you had to have Coax to get a cable card. Since here in the US we're pretty backward... this is about the only way I can see getting my DVR back up and running. (With cable that is. Trying to use the cable boxes just didn't work for me.)

I was holding out for the HDHR cablecard tuner but since that's on hold and my 2 tuners (1 internal and 1 external) are old, I bit the bullet, wined and dined the wife and ordered the Ceton tuner....don't expect it soon as I ordered late.
I've followed TGB threads on this and just read what you did and also got an email from Ceton stating the same. That is good news as it expands the market and hopefully keeps cablecard alive longer.
My cable company just announced last week that they are moving to SDV. I'm not crazy about it but that's what's happening around the states so I have no choice.

Until I get my hands on one. Big Grin I won't be able to do anything with the "Copy once" channels/programs but for all the rest, I plan on building an NPVR/MCE bridge tuner.

nice, that would certainly restore NPVR to greatness in the US.

I came across this a while ago and forgot to post it. Might be the answer to not having to develop bridge software for NPVR.

If CableLabs does allow that scenario (and I'm still skeptical that they will), I suspect they will drag their heels as long as possible.

Why do I have a feeling that almost all non-clearQAM channels are/will be broadcast with the CopyOnce flag set?

I don't suppose I'll care, I don't think I'll ever be willing to pay for cable or satellite again. For me, OTA plus various internet streaming sources is the present and future... whatever I can't watch that way, so be it.

Is there an easy way to determine if a channel is marked copy freely or copy once? I have seen conflicting reports about how fios marks their channels and wanted to make sure most of them were copy freely before I even thought about investing in a cablecard tuner.
