That is not true. AC3 filter only support AC3 and DTS (+ some MPEG formats). Id does not support DTS HD, Dolby True HD or Dolby Digital Plus.
You can try by yourself, here is DTS HD sample.
There will be only silence if AC3 filter is used.

hoborg Wrote:Hi.
I just did an quick test of 1.5.28:

*.MPG files are still not handled correctly. Problem is, that NPVR add MPEG-2 Demultiplexer in graph. If i open such *.MPG recording (made and playable in GP-PVR 1.4.7), GB-PVR create graph correctly (like in Graphstudio) with "MPC - Mpeg Source (Gabest)" and all is working fine. WinXP old "MPEG-2 Demultiplexer" is not capable to play such files correctly.

From LOG:
2010-08-16 10:12:40.640 [DEBUG][1] Graph filter list:
2010-08-16 10:12:40.671 [DEBUG][1] - MPEG-2 Demultiplexer
2010-08-16 10:12:40.671 [DEBUG][1] - File Source (Async.)
2010-08-16 10:12:47.921 [DEBUG][1] PlaybackPositionHelper.StorePlaybackPosition(F:\MP\SAF\_videa\interlaced.mpg, 0, 0)
2010-08-16 10:12:48.015 [DEBUG][1] Stopping graph@3
2010-08-16 10:12:48.031 [DEBUG][1] Removing filter MPEG-2 Demultiplexer
2010-08-16 10:12:48.031 [DEBUG][1] Removing filter File Source (Async.)
NPVR wouldnt use "MPC - Mpeg Source (Gabest)". Instead it uses the Microsoft MPEG2 Demultiplexer filter. I've not personally seen any .mpg files it wont work with. If you supply a small sample file, I'm happy to take a look.

Please guys - remember to post bug reports in the support forum rather than clogging up this thread.

as far as I know only sub can edit his posts here; there are no mods listsed for this forum (I'm now a mod for all the public forums, but have no priveleges here).

that said, there's not supposed to be so many support-type posts in here, it's just for sub to make announcements about new releases, and for us to thank him and tell him how great it's working Wink

It was standard windows crash message, not frameworks like. You known, program needs to be closed.

It is all *.MPG samples/recordings i have.
I just tested it on Win7 x64 - same issue.
BTW, rename to TS and it is working using your TS reader.

I'm using Win7 x64 here without this problem.

If you run GraphEdit, insert the 'File Source (Async.)' filter, select your .mpg file, insert the 'MPEG2 Demultiplexer' filter, then connect the two, then connect your preferred audio and video decoders and renderers, do you end up with a playable graph? This is effectively the same as NPVR does, and works fine here.

I suspect with all your filter tinkering you've manage to break your demux or something similar.

Yes, this will work for *.MPG files with MPEG-2 inside, but *.MPG with MPEG-1 will fail to play, "MPEG-I Stream Splitter" needs to be used. So i think forcing one filter is not good idea.

BTW, can i ask why MPG needs to have special handling and they are not played like other media like AVI/MKV,etc...? Is there any particular reason? Why it just dont ask DirectShow to play it?
