I am pleased to release SearchLite, a small search plugin for N-PVR. It uses the NEWA search engine to search your EPG and also queries TVDb.com and TMDB.org to get television and movie program information and artwork.

For more information check out the wiki

http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...SearchLite

This is a public beta and I am looking for more feedback on way to improve. Feel free to update the wiki. It currently is supported by the Default, BRVE+, and Wave skins.

Thanks to the many people that have provided alpha testing and useful suggestions, and also to UJB for his wonderful NEWA Web Service that made this possible.

Note that I believe there is a scheduling bug in the current version of N-PVR that causes canceled records from SearchLite, NEWA or the EPG to crash the Recording service.

Excellent. It brings back, and much more, what went missing in the gbpvr to pvrx2 update (remote keypad entry).
Thank you.

(now my epg source seems fixed I have no excuses left to not change to npvr as our main software).

As a bit of background I am someone that uses the search function in GB-PVR about once a fortnight (if that often) & never bothered about getting covers for my movies or anything like that.

This in one plugin that I would say is a MUST have for NPVR & I would recommend even if you aren't a plugin fan to give it a try & see how it works....it's fantastic & fun just to play with even if you don't have anything you want to search for at the time....& being able to grab the covers & overall description at the same time so they display in Videos & Recording & some of the popups is a huge bonus....brilliant thanks for this Smile

Thanks Jaggy, I didn't really know where this was going when I started. I heard about other people scheduling with EWA but I had never had played with it but when I saw it's practical approach, I thought that access through a PC and NMT would be more in tune with how I wanted find things in my EPG. The art and meta data was easy thanks to sub's changes in NPVR.

I have uploaded a minor update to SearchLite with these changes.

- Save to NEWA on the button bar wouldn't save using a mouse.
- no channel icons on some searches
- NEWA saved filename uses months not minutes in yyyymmdd
- recalled searches from NEWA didn't indicate "Exact"

I'm VERY interested in this bit ... you've probably seen my post on Jaggy's thread ...

http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...post385422

Reason i'd like it as as pure replacement for ProgramImageTool.exe and WizImageGrabber.exe.

Soooo my question is.... can I use this as a purely command line facility to put in my postprocessing.bat to download the artwork to NPVR/Media/Shows ?

Ta

k.

btw I do ALL my scheduling with the EWA including auto-searches etc ... it's magic with UJB produced.

Yes that is one of the features explained on the wiki page, I was just noting fixes not features.

I am not sure if episode art fit my SearchLite design, since personally I prefer seeing a series poster than a meaningless per episode scene image so doing this in each Post Processing seems to be overkill.

That being said as I wrote on the wiki I do want to add some sort of rename functionality, based on IMDB, TVRage, and theTVDb episode information. The table that NPVR uses for recording shows is now a limiting factor because NPVR doesn't store the required information and I am still rethinking how I will do this. I haven't decided if I will do for a command line renamer yet but if I do I might get an episode image if the scraping isn't too tough.
