A couple of days ago I unplugged my external usb TV card. Then I plugged it in again.
This resulted in two almost identical devices in the device list.

So I need to remove one of them as it is nonexistent.
I can't find a way to remove it in the settings nor in config.xml.
Do I have to tweak the db-file?

NPVR is not supposed to create a new device when you plug it in again, the device already there should just become Present. Did you update the driver in the meantime or something like that?

No, I had the nPVR opened thats all. I am not 100% shure though.
I did an update, but as I remember it that was later...

There can have been a recording in progress when I pulled it, as I have been playing around with this.

I rarely use the TV in nPVR I use it for recording once in a while, but when I do I often get a message that the device is unavailable. And no recording is created.
I have not pursued this yet. But I mean to post logs for it next time it occurs. I just mention this now to add info on the device problem.
And to head off that question: The unplugging of the usb was a one time deal, not something I usually do. Smile

The clue is the 'almost' - what were their full names? and more to the point - what made them different?
I have an analogue USB tuner that gets powered on and off at various times and I've not come across a second instance of it appearing in devices.
(I would like a delete button though - to get rid of a couple of DVB-S tuners that I tried but will never be using again).

The only difference is in the parenthesis (Dev 1 Path0) vs (Dev 2 Path0), that I interpret as only a identifier.

As far as NPVR can tell, this is a different device. ie, its got a different name. GBPVR would have had the same problems with this.

Unfortunately this one of a very small number of devices that can sometimes change its filter names dynamically.

Just curious, did you plug it back in to exactly the same USB port? If it connects to a different root hub, windows can create a new instance of the device rather than re-using the existing instance of it.

Yes, I checked that. I've had exactly that problem before with other devices. But in this case it was the same port (actually, there were no other ports free).

Having a similar problem here, I keep getting new tuners popping up, I assume it's when the machine is rebooted, it looks like windows (7) is assigning the dev numbers randomly to my devices so NPVR detects it as a new tuner device, it's a pain as I have to check after every reboot to see if it's switched dev numbers, I then have to turn "enable device" off for the now not present tuners and set up the new tuners. Just for good measure I also delete all the channels. I'm running a nova t 500 dual tuner and a couple of nova t usb sticks. The USB sticks are never unplugged. I currently show 8 tuners (four not present obviously) with varying dev numbers.

I'm familar with this particular device, but device I never seen it switch dev numbers with reboots etc. I've only seen it do this if you unplug it and plug it back in a different USB port.

Sorry, but there is nothing the application can do about it. If appears in the system with a different name, then as far as the application is concerned, this is a new device.
