Hi

I've been using GB-PVR for quite a few years and it has been working well. But I bave been longing to move to nPVR for some time now, it is nice and more modern. Also looking forward to the .ts comskip/skipping advantages.

BUT, and this is a big but. Something must be wrong with my setup since most of the time (yes, it was working yesterday) nPVR cannot acces my two tuners.
Setup:
Windows XP SP3
2xFloppyDTV DVB-C cards with CA-module
nPVR 1.5.31 (with patches installed with Martins installer)
One NMT server started

As I said I have had GB-PVR installed (and it is still installed but had the Recording Service set to manual) but I am running nPVR right now. GB-PVR has always been able to access my cards and yesterday nPVR also had access to them and successfully recorded a show we watched on our A-110. Then I had forgotten about a backup script that shuts down the Recordingservice, does a RAR-file of the entire devnz to another drive just in case and then starts the Recordingservice (have been doing this every sunday night for a year).
And after the GB-PVR Recordingservice started I could not access the TV-cards.

I have tried to reboot the PC, I de-actived and activated the cards in Computer Manager and also in nPVR. But no success.
I even shut the system down completely and powered it up but no success, I only get a Device failed to start...

Any guess to where I should look?
I attach the logs from my last try (just after i did a cold boot of the system with GB-PVR recording Service set to disable).

I cant see an obvious cause in the log, but you could see if this patch helps.

I stopped all npvr running (recordingservice, tray and application), removed the old dll and put the new in and then restarted.

Unfortunatly no success

Just to verify I started GB-PVR and no problem there...

Can this be decoder related?
Can I have chosen wrong decoders?

Post the npvr.log/nrecord.log for an attempt with that new patch.

Also, try live tv in pvrx2.exe, and post the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log. I might have some useful info for comparison.

OK, sorry for not attaching the logs.

I have no monitor on the PVR PC so the logs are from live tv from NMT...

Unfortunately I cant really see any obvious source of the problem in those logs.

OK. Will try to shutdown the machine and unplug the power cord (in case that does an even harder reset of the hardware, I know that has helped us with our servers at work a few times when they have crashed really hard).

Thanks for the really fast help anyway Smile
As soon as I get nPVR up and runnning you will have another donation coming from me Smile

Yes, it did actually fix the problem. Perhaps the firewire-device is not properly reset if the chassi still has power?

Strange yes but it is now working again Smile
Thanks again for trying to fix the problem Smile

Along with USB this is quite normal AFAIK - I have to unplug my server to totally reset an external USB tuner.

The strange thing is that GB-PVR has no problem re-using the devices when nPVR has had control, but nPVR cannot gain control over the tuners when GB-PVR has "owned" them.
There must (well, of course it is not a rule that it must but there should...) be a way to reset the device in a way so another application can gain control over it.

Anyway it is working now and I know how to fix it if it happens again Smile
