Hi all,

I have 2off Hauppauge cards fitted, identical feed from same LNB.......tonight one of the went faulty. Confirmed via Haupauge software I don't pick up any channels when I try to scan, the other card is fine.

So, I disabled the faulty card in nPVR settings, and nPVR works fine as far as viewing any channel on my guide via the other card so no probs there.

However, if I record a programme and whilst it's recording try to view another channel then some channels will allow me, others will come up a message saying no capture device available (or words to that affect). It's as if some of the channels in my guide are tied to 1 card or another.

Any advice?.....I just want to be able to record one programme whilst I watch another.

Ian.

Ian.

Surely if you are working only off one card now that depends if the channel you are attempting to watch is on the same mux?

If on same mux, will allow, different mux then not with just one card?

[Edit] Should have added have been watching your webpage with interest! Very nicely done Big Grin When you say:

Quote:identical feed from same LNB.......

Do you mean single LNB has been split into 2 cables or dish has Dual LNB (or more) feeds from it?

I also have a suspicion (though be it a small one) that your 2nd card is not fried but you have a driver problem. For what you are trying to do here I would find the card that is not playing ball and just remove it (physically) from your system (temporarily). Probably no help at all.... [EndEdit]

With effectively just a single tuner, you can only do that if they are on the same mux. Lyngsat will show what is on each mux http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html

For this, Freeview is better than Freesat as there is less "garbage" to dilute what is on the mux's

It's a quad LNB, so two feeds used to my HTPC, a 3rd goes direct to my TV for backup Freesat, and the 4th goes off to another room where I used to have a 2nd SKY box running Freesat (who wants to give Rupert Murdoch any more money for multi-room!!!).

Up until this problem it was running fine and I was able to record 4 different programmes at the same time (or record 3 and watch another). To do my testing before I installed nPVR a week ago I was able to pull channel data from both cards using the simple hauppauge software, thats how I tested both cards. But now, only one of the cards responds now.

Wait a minute....ahhhhh, now I see the MUX issue.....thanks for that, fully understand now. Been building PC's and designing electronics for years, but DVB-S is all new to me.

UPDATE:- So, back to the dead card....I swapped the 2 over on the motherboard, problem stayed with the slot. Removed the card and re-inserted, and both now working..............don'tcha just hate intermittent problems!
