- MISSING LETTER FOR AN OPTICAL DRIVE
The autodetect mode is no good idea, if someone is using one virtualdrive (e.g. for isos) and a real drive (for dvds). I have to assign the letter used by dvd playback within nPVR by myself.

- NOT WORKING ISO PLAYBACK
I want to open isos within the videomenu (where all other type of videos are too), but this is not working. Every try to open an iso ends with... nothing. Daemon Tools don't mount the image! It's uninteresting if the iso is on an unc, share or local path.

- BROKEN SETTINGSMENU
In the menu "misc" is a part "Daemon Tools ISO support". The browsebutton don't work, it's not possible to enter the path manual. The driveletter will not be saved within config.xml

- BAD CLIENT PERFORMANCE (streaming, file sharing works very good)
The client loses (short after start) synchronisation of video and audio.

- FM RADIO ON CLIENT
Not really a bug, i think. It's a really nice feature, to hear even fm(!) radio on every client, but... the upcoming "active movie" window, besides npvr itself, remembers me at Windows 95 era and is heavely annoying. ^^;

The client starts to stutter after a few minutes up to 1 frame per minute(!!!). After switching the bufferfile all is working again (for the same amount of time). Is here somewhere a leak? The .ts files within the timeshift folder of the server are perfect. Outside nPVR (local / via lan) they're playing just fine. nPVR is not able to do this!

Moving the mouse over the nPVR windows while watching tv is no good idea. After displaying the osd, the video starts heavily to stutter!

- UNHANDLED EXCEPTION ERROR WHILE ACCESS TO A FOLDER WITHOUT PERMISSION
Because i have childs at home, which are using their own pc, i had structured my moviecollection with a system like parental guide. Of course i can not access my childs to movies which are for people 18+ and so on, so that i restrict the access to a folder containing such media via windows security to forbidden for these "users".
nPVR will display these folders anyway in the library and if someone tries to access this "for this user forbidden" folder, then it gets an unhandled exception error. The best case were, even not to show up such a folder or at least handle the error with a message like "you don't have permission to access this folder".

- WRONG CHANNELASSIGNMENT FOR ANALOG CABLE IN GERMANY
Because my provider "Kabel Deutschland" changed the frequencies for a lot of stations, i decided to built the new channeldatabase completely new. I deleted the frequencies overrride settings in the registry and rebooted the server.
Ok, nPVR is short of tuning capabilities, so i installed WinTV 7.x and made a complete channelscan (germany, analog, cable). I wrote down the stations and channelnumbers and transferred them into the nPVR database. But... nPVR didn't tune properly (i really selected germany cable or antenna) with this channels. There are exactly 4 offsets compared to WinTV: channels +15, +6, +2 and -15 compared to the channels of nPVR. I made an excelsheet, which i will upload and attach later for you to viewing. It was a dirty "trial and error" setup of the channels. ^^

I tried on 6 machines (2x Vista Home Premium 32-Bit, 2x Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit, 2x Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit).
CPUs: Intel ATOM 330, 2x Core 2 E6600, 2x i3-550, 1x i5-760
RAMs: 1x 2 GB, 2x 3.5 GB, 2x 4 GB, 1x 8 GB
Chipsets: 2x Intel G965, 2x H55, 1x H57, 1x NVIDIA ION
GPUs: 2x NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250, 1x ION, 1x NVIDIA GTX 260², 2x Intel Clarkdale HD Video
LAN: Intel 1 Gbit

Used decoders: Microsoft DTV, PowerDVD 10, CoreAVC, AC3Filter, ffdshow tryout beta 7, monogram aac decoder

nPVR 1.5.33 + all available hotfixes from sub

Used renderers: EVR, VMR9 (buggy!!! in combination with various decoders like PDVD10), VMR7 and Overlay

I just tested .ISO playback, and it works, but it takes a looooooong time from you select an iso-file until it actually starts playing.

Aha? Could you please zip and attach your logs, the config.xml and tell me, what OS you're using? 32 / 64 Bit, which version of Daemon Tools (Lite?)? I want to compare with my settings and look for a possible error. And how about the Daemon Tools setting on the misc screen at your system? Is it working, or broken?

I can reproduce this problem on all 6 machines! ISO playback on GB-PVR is no problem.

Hi,

I haven't tried ISO playback yet.........any chance of the basics of what's involved. I presume for starters I have to install Daemon Tools Lite.............then?

Ian.

Yes, you are right. You have to install the Daemon Tools. The free version of it, Daemon Tools Lite, could be get here: http://www.disc-tools.com/download/daemon

Yes I got that, but it's what you do after that?

THIS is the big question. In theory, yo just have to make sure to reboot after installing Daemon Tools, control if there's a virtual drive, write down the letter of this virtual drive and configure nPVR in the settingsmenu (settings -> dvd -> Daemon Tools .exe Path / driveletter). Under normal circumstances it should work then... it should(!) work then.

Ok, I have done this.

1) Installed the Daemon Tools Lite (beware of he search tools if you don't want them, just unclick the options)
2) Reboot.
3) Open the Daemon Tools tray tool to see the drive letter of your virtual drive. In my case G:
4) In settings->DVD- The path to the exe was already set by N-PVR. The drive letter was wrong. I changed that to G:
5) Mount an image: Right mouse click on daemon tools tray icon->Virtual Devices->G:->Mount image...
6) In N-PVR select DVD. Voila, it plays.

But, the settings in the Misc tab does NOT work. I cannot enter any settings. Neither does selecting an ISO file in the Videos section work. So either there is a bug here, or this functionality is not completed yet (we just thought so).

@RedDwarf
Did you actually get video playback from any ISO file, the old GB-PVR way?

Also. Client performance.
The playback over EPG show borders are now smooth, previously I got dumped out of the Live feed. Great!
But I also get severe sync problems after a short while. I mean several seconds off sync...Tried different combinations of decoders but same issue. As I remember sync was perfect in 1.5.31 for the PC client.
I also get some stuttering sometimes after about 30 sec to a minute from start of live TV feed. If I pause the Live feed for a sec and start play again the stuttering stops. But then the sync problems start...

This is NOT the way, it should be.

The "normal" way to playback isos is:

Start nPVR
Choose "Videos"
Select any iso you want to watch
nPVR SHOULD give the iso to daemontools for mounting
after the given time of mounting (as default 3500ms, 3,5 seconds) nPVR should playback the automatically mounted iso

MANUAL mounting is absolutely a NO GO. Under GB-PVR there was never a problem using it like above. The way as you described it, don't need any "implementation" of ISO support within nPVR. If you mount the iso manual into daemontools, then you have a "normal" dvd rom within this (virtual) drive and npvr recognize this one as normal dvd rom. Smile

Thats the way I did it, make sure that Automount is ticked. Will se if I can post logs/settings tomorror, it's kind'a late for me now.
