I'm using NPVR with Windows 7. My problem is that whenever I click on the Guide button it brings up NPVR's guide but the Windows Media Center also pops up. Is there a way to disable WMC popping up when NPVR is active?

Unfortunately NPVR doesnt have any control over this. Its a Windows thing. There might be some registry settings to control the behaviour though?

You might find some usable clues here http://www.webtlk.com/2008/02/28/how-to-...ia-center/

IRSS has a way to disable them built-in as well, i suspect a reg entry somewhere can fix it also..

This is what I did. Works great and trivial to undo.

I'm still in the testing phase with NPVR so i'd rather not disable MC. I was thinking more along the lines of using something like Eventghost to capture the button press?

Eventghost is a beast :p, at least in my view. Personally I use HIP and it works great for all programs I run with one single remote.

ahh,but in win7, hip isn't as nice as xp....
for win7 i'd recommend IR Server Suite as it has this ability to just disable the wmc key presses without uninstalling...
and i find it the most easily understandable to setup..

Oooh, why?

I've still to do any in-depth testing with win7, and I know there were problems with getting HIP to run in it at some point (or was that just a x86/x64 thing), but I thought it was all good to go now?

(At this rate, by the time I *do* get around to switching to win7 on my HTPC, you'll all be on to its successor. In my defence though, both my work and main home PC are win7).
