So its looking like Im going to dedicate my netbook to the new lcd tv we have. Currently, we're just playing net videos (youtube) out via the hdmi. I bought a wireless keyb and mouse to control it. So far so good.
Now, Id like to consider working NVPVR into this.
Should I be installing NVPVR at the netbook and source my content via web or net shared drives ? Or should I be installing NVPVR at the main pc and using the netbook as a client ??
Im thinking the way to go is to have the netbook as host with a shell of some type where I can use NVPVR or jump out to do things that NVPVR isnt capable of (yet ?).

Anyone gone up this route ?

i would go client with npvr..server in the other room...
tho the netbook could record if using usb tuners..[recording doesn't take much cpu]

i guess it depends on what you're trying to accomplish. if you want multiple tuners it seems like you'd have to use a client/server type setup with the tuners in the desktop pc. for just one tuner you could probably make the netbook do it it all.
server: NextPVR 5.0.7/Win10 2004/64-bit/AMD A6-7400k/hvr-2250 & hvr-1250/Winegard Flatwave antenna/Schedules Direct
main client: NextPVR 5.0.7 Desktop Client; LG 50UH5500 WebOS 3.0 TV

Its an Asus 1201. Nvidia ION graphics. Seems to do the trick so far. (they were about $500 but that was a year ago)
I see they've branched out the Eee line into quite a few models now..

At most I could see one tuner. We only have 3 OTA stations here and no cable.
So, if Im running NVPVR 'locally' (at the netbook), is it still transcoding stuff into TS ?
Im wondering if the netbook will have the hp to transcode and output hdmi at the same time..

There is no transcoding involved, mpeg-ts and ps are just containers, however if you need SoftPVR because you need software analog mpeg encoding I think you need more horsepower.
