When the PC comes out of sleep mode to record, the TV source switches to the HDMI port, away from the TV's internal tuner. This is desirable behaviour when turning the PC on to watch a recording, but a nuisance at other times. Has anyone found a way to stop the video coming on when the PC resumes for a recording event, until a remote button is pressed?

umm, that's the way it normally happens..tv isn't supposed to come on during scheduled recording when waking to do so...
your tv must have some sort of setting to automatically switch to any new active inputs..look in menus...or may not be settable..

if not settable, you'd have to disable the hdmi monitor connect when sleeping, and only wake hdmi on 'user requested' wake...
i have a app that can do this, but you'd have to figure out how to turn your monitor port off by yourself..
[i use it to turn tv off/on when sleeping, only to turn on when woke by me]
the MCE Standby Tool can also do it..[run apps on wake and suspend]
but setting to tv to not do it would be better...
or you could always get a hdmi switchbox...it would mimic the connection as active as long as it was on..[theoretically]

Thanks for the response. The TV didn't seem to switch sources when I briefly connected the PC to HDMI2, only HDMI1. There's no obvious setting in menus, so maybe this was just some behaviour learned through handshaking.

The problem is, I want/need the TV to auto-select the PC when woken for playback, to make it easier to use, so I'd need to discriminate between wake events. The guide update is scheduled for the small hours when the TV is unlikely to be on, so that doesn't matter. The only issue is when the TV is on and the PC wakes for recording.

This utility seems to have an option for turning the monitor off (and on).
NirCmd
That could possibly be added to one of the batch files that run at the start of recording, unless you know of a better way. There's PreProcessing.bat, ParallelProcessing.bat and RecordingStatus.bat, but it's not clear to me from the Wiki if these are triggered by other processes.

I found "HdmiOn" and "HdmiYo" which might also reset the monitor. I don't have access to the PC just now to experiment.
