Hi,

Does anyone know if this will work with NPVR?

Its likely you can use it for DVB-S but not DVB-S2. For the most part you need a Hauppauge card to do DVB-S2.

I can see this Hauppauge limitation being a right pain in the coming months (due to lack of PCI slots in my PC). Shame they don't/won't make a dual tuner PCI-e card. That would be problem solved.

How do the Media Portals et al of this world handle DVB-S2 hardware? Are other countries similar to the UK in that DVB-S2 just hasn't been needed up until now?

With specific code for each manufacturer's custom DVB-S2 tuning. The problem is I only have Hauppauge devices, so I cant develop and test support for other DVB-S2 devices (or their custom diseqc implementations). Its not practical to code stuff like this without having a test device in your PC. If those other manufacturers want to send me a sample device, then I can add support, otherwise I'm happy to stick with Hauppauge only DVB-S2 support.

I'd certainly be happy enough to chip in for a sample card for you - once I knew what sort of card I might consider getting. At the moment though, until we actually have a live DVB-S2 transmission here (there's a single test one for launch in April, but apparently it's just gone encrypted today) I'll just continue to save my pennies...

Yeah, my bummer was in response to trying to see if it actually was encrypted. I knew some were saying the encrypted flag was set, but that was never an issue. But it actually is encrypted for the mo. It will be FTA in April though, just have to wait and see where they stick it.

Digitalspy forums claim it'll stay on this TP when it goes FTA in April. Assume it'll still be DVB-S2.
