Default skin selection

This is a question to which I really should already know the answer, but how does nPVR keep track of which variation of the default skin it is supposed to be using?

I ask because on my 2.0.3 clients, if I choose Default: Texture_-_Wood for instance, that is the skin I get every time i start it up. However on my server, it changes as I select it, but it goes back to the Default: Abstract_-_Graddif skin every time I restart nPVR. If I choose a completely different skin (blue retro for instance) that sticks ok.

I can see the skin section in the config.xml, but that is just set to "default" on both the client and on the server.

I've also looked through the logs, but can't see any reference to the skin being changed at all.

When you choose a different background, it just replaces the 'background.jpg' with one of the other pictures from _Backgrounds directory. Nothing else special happens. If its not happening, maybe it cant write to that directory.

I did some testing of this and I think having an NMT session open might "lock" the background. When the NMT is running I can change the skin background but even if go back without exiting, it reverts to the original background. If I close the NMT session, the background saves as normal.

Martin, you are correct. If I close down my PCH's the changes stick. If I have one running, they dont. I can however delete the "Background" file, choose a new one, it copies the new file into place and it sticks, even with a PCH running. Thats an odd sort of a lock!
